Salary Range: $135,000-$175,000/annum

The Opportunity:

The prime focus of this position is to provide support and direction to the Shift Supervisor, Head Operators and Operating Crews in delivery of the Operating Plan. This support will include day to day technical, operating, troubleshooting & optimization advice.

Responsibilities:

The key job responsibilities for this position include acting as primary contact for all non-routine or special operating needs and issues such as:
  • Incident Investigation guidance
  • Routine Work Prioritization
  • Non-routine equipment outages planning & execution
  • Working with the console team on day-to-day unit monitoring, optimization, and troubleshooting
  • Management of Change operations oversight
  • Procedure development and improvements
  • Ownership of Unit Reliability Risk Register
  • Coordination of unplanned shutdown or major equipment outages. With 24/7 refinery operation, after-hours and weekend support will occasionally be required.
  • Project support
  • Process improvement advisor
  • Best practice contact
  • Ensure assigned units complete Regulatory Compliance testing
Additional responsibilities may also include:
  • Operational expense management and tracking
  • Change management
  • Work closely with console Process Engineer and Process Control Engineer on day to day and longer-term process monitoring
  • Operating standard ownership and review  
  • Stewardship of Refinery Catalyst operating budget

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of Oil and Gas plant experience with roles in Operations and/or Engineering. 
  • Detailed Refining process unit knowledge would be an advantage.
  • Register (or eligible to register) Professional Engineer (P. Eng) or minimum 3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate
  • Demonstrated commitment to Incident and Injury Free.
  • Ability to work on own initiative to develop and implement innovative solutions to business problems.
  • Strong mentoring and motivational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Organizational and prioritization skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage workload independently.
  • Candidates must be legally able to work in Canada at this present time
