Purpose:

Overall responsibility purchasing of equipment and supplies in accordance with the AM and purchasing procedures.

Principal

Accountabilities:

•Initiates purchases by obtaining quotations in accordance with the MOA and purchasing procedures.

•Build relationships with existing vendors and identify new vendors to service emerging needs.

•Coordinate the delivery of purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers; monitoring and expediting orders.

•Verify purchase orders, invoices, and other supplier documents to identify discrepancies in quantity, pricing and quality.

•Reconciles suppliers’ statements with sub-ledger and monitor accounts to ensure terms and credit limits are adequate.

•Maintains records of pricing and other important data.

•Acts as the focal point for all imports of spare parts, equipment, and promotional merchandise by liaising with custom broker and user departments.

•Build relationships with existing vendors and identify new vendors to service emerging needs.

•Managing of the tendering process for servicing and products and be a member of the tendering committee.

•Ensure understanding of the Quality Policy and Quality objectives.

•Ensure purchasing procedures are documented, ensure staff are trained and verify that procedures are followed consistently.

•Participate in Hazard IDs, Observations and inspections as scheduled.

•Create and oversee KPI tracking and reporting.  Initiate investigations and action plans as required.

Qualification Requirements:

  • University Diploma in Accounting/Business Management with 2 years’ experience in procurement/purchasing.
  • A valid driver’s license.

Other Competency Requirements:

  • Competent in Microsoft Office especially Windows, Excel and Power point.
  • Knowledge of Great Plains Accounting Software will be an asset.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision in a competent and reliable manner.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Team-player.

Other Information:

In addition to basic salary the successful applicant shall receive job grade allowances and be eligible to participate in The Sol Group Pension Scheme and its non-contributory Group Health and Life Insurance Scheme.
