Summary:

  1. The Clinical Technologist will receive on-the-job-training to attain Technologist level (formalized training program must be achieved to be eligible to apply to a Medical Technologist 1 position).

Responsibilities:

1.Performs tests to analyze patient specimens according to section specific policy and procedure.
2.Interprets data to prepare a patient laboratory report.
3.Communicates test results to health care affiliates.
4.Maintains biomedical equipment.
5.Performs QC/QA to ensure quality test results.
6.Identifies and resolves problems that arise.
7.Assists Medical Laboratory Scientists (MLS or MT) by testing samples to validate or correlate instruments, assays and reagent lots .
8.Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
9.Performs other duties as assigned.




Other Information:

 The Clinical Technologist - holds a Bachelor's Degree and will receive on-the-job-training to attain Technologist level (formalized training program must be achieved to be eligible to apply to a Medical Technologist 1 position).


Required:  Bachelor's Degree of Science in Biology or Chemistry, or a Bachelor�s Degree of Science with a minimum of 60 semester hours including either 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses (6 hours of chemistry; 6 hours of biology, and 12 hours in chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology, or any combination).

Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity

Occupational: Significant occupational risk

Physical Effort: Sedentary/light effort. May exert up to 10 lbs. force

Physical Environment: Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
