Purpose: Design, plan, and implement compensation programs, policies and procedures for the healthcare system including corporate, hospital operations (excluding physician compensation) and affiliated network. Responsible for achieving Nuvance's desired competitive position to market and supporting system goals and initiatives. Ensure compensation programs enhance Nuvance's ability to recruit, motivate and retain talented employees.
Essential Responsibilities
1. Develop, implement and administer compensation programs and systems including merit, market and equity analyses across the healthcare system.
2. Counsel leaders on pay, compensation practices, and policy interpretations. Guide decision-making process and final outcomes by providing detailed analysis/models, innovative recommendations, and actionable expert advice.
3. Oversee completion of compensation surveys and ensure access to contemporary, relevant market data. Develop and maintain compensation structures, as well as titling and leveling standards.
4. Conduct complex analyses to ensure internal equity, consistent application of policy, and external competitiveness throughout the hospital network. Provide strategic support for Labor Relations; may provide economic modeling during union collective bargaining negotiations.
5. Direct the work and development of compensation team.
6. Coach and mentor direct reports and others in sphere of influence.
7. Provide specific, meaningful performance feedback and complete appraisal processes in a timely manner.
8. Lead annual merit increase cycle for the hospital operations network; educate and guide leaders to optimize merit budget and reward exceptional performance
9. Conduct ad hoc market assessments and provide cost effective recommendations to strategically address targeted business segments.
10. Develop annual department budget in conjunction with Head of Total Rewards
11. Lead and participate in cross-functional teams driving solutions impacting associate pay including mergers and acquisitions, integration, and system-wide initiatives.
12. Assess compensation systems and processes for streamlining and continuous improvement opportunities.
13. Ensure accurate reporting and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations regarding compensation.
14. Review Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) exemption status and conduct tests to ensure appropriate status.
15. Keep abreast of legislative changes and anticipate impact on hospital system. Proactively communicate and advise senior leadership of potential implications and recommend mitigation strategies.
16. Maintains and Model the Organization’s values.
17. Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
18. Performs other duties as required.

Education and Experience Requirements:
• Requires a minimum formal education of a bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent gained through a combination of education and work experience
• 8 to 10 years of progressive, related experience in the field. Healthcare experience strongly preferred.
• Advanced degree in Human Resources, Business Management or other related field preferred.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:
• Advanced level application of Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Access, Word and Outlook.
• Strong analytical, math and problem-solving capabilities.
• Familiarity with HRIS systems (Lawson/Infor preferred).
• Excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills.

License, Registration, or Certification Requirements:
• Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification preferred.
• Certification in Human Resources preferred (PHR, SHRM-CP)
