Essential Responsibilities
1.Works directly with nurse preceptor / mentor to implement nursing orders (within scope) promptly and adequately with an understanding of the purpose of each.
2.Follows policy and procedure for assigned patient care activities, including unit specific equipment and standards.
3.Provides patient comfort by participating in tasks appropriate for unit.
4.Provides for patient safety through preventative measures as determined by the unit specific requirements.
5.Enters data into the computer system as applicable.
6.Communicates all patient and visitor information and observations to precepting / mentoring registered nurse.
7.Always reports any changes observed in the condition or behavior of patient; reports all unusual conditions or reactions to the precepting / mentoring nurse.
8.Recognizes and responds to priorities in the patient care process. Responds to priorities promptly, exercise good judgement in setting priorities for activities based on unit requirements.
9.Uses effective working relationships with all health care team members, patients, and interdisciplinary team.
10.Maintains a safe and orderly work environment and a clean, well-stocked work area.
11.Maintains patient safety for patients requiring one to one patient care observation at the discretion of the precepting / mentoring RN.
12.May perform the specific tasks at the discretion of a RN upon the completion of validated competency (refer to orientation checklist).
13.Follows hospital standards of service excellence; Enhances the patient experience through attention to patient and family needs.
14.Maintains and Model Nuvance Health Values.
Education and Experience Requirements:
·High School Diploma or equivalent.
·Successful completion of junior year in a BSN accredited nursing program.
·Applicants must have achieved and maintained a 3.0 GPA and be in good standing with the university.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:
·Successful completion of the university specified nursing program objectives for freshman through junior year.
License, Registration, Certification, or Training Requirements:
·Must have current AHA Basic Life Support Card.
