We are seeking a visionary Senior Manager, Software Development to spearhead this transformation, leading the architecture and delivery of our next-generation cloud-native database services.

About the Team
Nutanix Database Service (NDB) is a DBaaS (Database as a Service) product for on-premise Nutanix customers. The product is expanding to a Hybrid Multi Cloud Solution with a scalable architecture. The NDB engineering team is distributed across USA, Serbia, and India. If the idea of starting small and building big excites you, you will be a good fit for this team. What You’ll Do
🚀 Drive Platform Innovation
- Lead the design and delivery of next-gen NDB architecture, including database-in-containers, microservices, and modern APIs
- Help shape the platform for the next 5–10 years by partnering with Product and Architecture teams
⚙️ Own Execution & Delivery
- Deliver high-impact features across cloud and on-prem NDB
- Own end-to-end execution from planning to release with a strong focus on quality and customer outcomes
🛠️ Champion Reliability & Quality
- Drive operational excellence through incident management, RCA processes, and on-call rigor
- Lead efforts to resolve customer-facing issues, improve product quality, and strengthen engineering discipline
👥 Build & Scale Engineering Teams
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of high performing engineers
- Hire and develop top talent; raise the engineering bar across the organization
🤝 Cross-Functional Leadership
- Collaborate with Product, Support, and field teams to deliver customer centric solutions
- Align engineering execution with business priorities and customer impact
What We’re Looking For
✅ Experience
- 10+ years in software engineering, with significant time in leadership roles
- Proven track record of delivering complex, distributed systems or SaaS platforms
💡 Technical Depth
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, hybrid cloud platforms, and databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL/Redis preferred)
- Experience with Kubernetes, containers, microservices, and APIs
📊 Execution & Ownership
- Demonstrated ability to drive large, cross team initiatives
- Strong operational mindset with experience in production systems, incident handling, and release delivery
🌱 Leadership
- Experience hiring, mentoring, and scaling teams
Ability to balance hands-on technical direction with effective delegation - Nice to Have
- Experience with database platforms or DBaaS
Experience leading platform re-architecture or cloud transformation
Background in high availability or data protection systems

Work Arrangement
Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. In locations where our workplace policy applies (i.e. San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, Bangalore, Pune, Hoofddorp, Belgrade, Barcelona, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo), employees are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week to foster collaboration, team alignment, and access to in-office resources. Workplace type may vary based on location and team requirements. Please speak with your recruiter for details. Additional team-specific guidance and norms will be provided by your manager.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 195,200 and USD $ 391,200per year.
However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
