About the Team
The Staff Global Practice SME -DB will join the Global Database Practice team at Nutanix, located in either Bangalore or Pune. This team is dedicated to driving innovation and excellence in open-source database technologies, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture that empowers employees to contribute their expertise and insights. With a mission to enhance database service offerings and ensure delivery excellence, the team works closely with various stakeholders to create impactful solutions that meet customer needs in an evolving technological landscape.
You will report to the Director of Professional Services, who is known for their supportive and empowering leadership style, encouraging team members to take ownership of their projects while providing guidance and mentorship. The role is hybrid, requiring the new hire to work in the office three days a week, allowing for both in-person collaboration and flexibility in remote work.
This position may involve travel as needed to support client engagements and facilitate training sessions, contributing to the ongoing development of the Global Database Practice's service offerings. Travel requirements will be discussed during the hiring process to ensure alignment with the candidate's expectations and needs.
Your Role
  • Own and advance the Open-Source Database domain, including service offering creation and delivery excellence.
  • Define the technical direction, service architecture, and quality standards for open-source database workloads on Nutanix platforms.
  • Develop and create repeatable service delivery kits, operational models, and troubleshooting playbooks.
  • Lead and shadow first deliveries of new or updated Open-Source Database services, ensuring high-quality standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management, Engineering, and Sales teams to align services with customer needs and product roadmaps.
  • Provide thought leadership through blogs, technical white papers, and internal training to support consultant and partner enablement.
  • Monitor consulting CSAT and delivery margins while proposing corrective actions to improve service offerings.
  • Achieve successful certification milestones (NCX within 6 months and NPX within 18 months) as part of professional development.
What You Will Bring
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in IT services with specialization in Open-Source Databases.
  • Deep expertise in PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB, or NoSQL platforms (e.g., MongoDB, Redis).
  • Strong understanding of HA/DR architectures, performance tuning, and database migration strategies.
  • Proven experience in service delivery, enterprise architecture, or consulting roles.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
  • Ability to develop repeatable service delivery kits and engage in thought leadership.
  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills and proficiency in English.
Work Arrangement
Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. In locations where our workplace policy applies (i.e. San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, Bangalore, Pune, Hoofddorp, Belgrade, Barcelona, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo), employees are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week to foster collaboration, team alignment, and access to in-office resources.
