About the Team

The Director of Engineering - Developer Productivity Planning will be a key member of the Developer Productivity team at Nutanix, based in San Jose, CA. This team is primarily responsible for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of development processes across the organization. With a diverse group of about 30 professionals located both in the US and India, the team's culture is built on collaboration, continuous learning, and high performance. Their mission is to deliver innovative developer productivity solutions that empower over 3,000 developers within Nutanix to achieve their goals with increased speed and minimal friction.

You will report to the Director of Engineering, who is known for their supportive and empowering leadership style. They focus on fostering an environment where team members can thrive, encouraging open communication and collaboration to achieve shared goals. This role is based onsite, and the new hire will be expected to work in the office full-time, ensuring close collaboration with the team and stakeholders.

This position does not require any travel, allowing the new hire to concentrate on building and optimizing internal processes and collaborating with their team effectively each day.

 

Your Role

  • Lead and manage a high-performing Build/Pipeline/CI/CD team of 30 members across the US and India.
  • Oversee project management and set customer expectations for pipeline health and delivery.
  • Architect and design new features for enhanced productivity and efficiency.
  • Coach and mentor team members to foster growth and improve performance.
  • Deliver 10+ new product pipelines and secure existing pipelines within the first year.
  • Implement a complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to streamline processes.
  • Improve build timings and reduce friction to accelerate delivery to QA.
  • Structure the team to support career growth while ensuring clarity and focus in objectives.

 

What You Will Bring

  • 15+ years of industry experience in engineering management.
  • Proven leadership in managing remote, high-performing technical teams.
  • Strong technical capabilities in architecture, design, and solutions.
  • Experience with Developer Productivity enhancements and CI/CD processes.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Jenkins, Python, and Git repositories (Gerrit & GitHub).
  • Ability to solve complex, unknown problems using AI and other technologies.
  • Excellent executive communication and project management skills.
  • Experience in implementing and improving software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes.

 

Work Arrangement

On Site: This role is based on-site, offering the opportunity to collaborate face-to-face with team members in a dynamic and engaging work environment. Being physically present allows for seamless teamwork and direct access to resources that support your success. Additional team-specific guidance and norms will be provided by your manager.

 

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 240,000 and USD $ 480,000 per year.

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
