The Opportunity
The tax team is responsible for handling all aspects of the company's tax function, including income tax accounting, compliance, audit, planning, systems, and processes for the US Corporate Tax function. This team works collaboratively with various departments and stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting and payment. The team is detail-oriented, analytical, and focused on delivering results in a fast-paced environment. The Senior Tax Analyst will have the opportunity to work on various tax projects and contribute to process improvements.
About the Team
At Nutanix, the US Tax Team is a small but dedicated group of three professionals primarily based in San Jose, CA. The team thrives on a collaborative culture, where every member's input is valued, and teamwork is at the heart of our operations. You will report to the Director of Tax Accounting and Compliance. If hired in San Jose, CA, or Durham, NC, this position will be a hybrid role, requiring you to be in the office three days a week. If you are located outside of these cities, the role will be fully remote. This setup offers flexibility while still providing opportunities for meaningful in-person collaboration with your colleagues. There are no travel requirements for this position.
Your Role
- Support quarterly and annual ASC 740 income tax accounting.
- Prepare quarterly and annual state income tax provision workpapers and supporting workpapers.
- Prepare quarterly federal and state income tax estimated tax payments calculations and facilitate payments.
- Prepare federal and state income tax return workpapers and coordinate and review tax returns prepared by outside service providers.
- Support tax audits, responses to tax notices, and timely resolution of other tax controversy matters.
- Prepare and manage SOX controls related to tax processes, ensuring compliance and proper documentation.
- Evaluate existing processes and suggest process improvements.
- Conduct basic tax research and provide recommendations.
- Assist with any other special projects, as necessary.
What You Will Bring
- 3-5 years of corporate income tax experience in public accounting firms and/or private industry
- BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Tax and/or Finance
- Experience in ASC 740 income tax provisions and familiarity with ONESOURCE Tax Provision tool is a plus.
- Multi-state and multi-entity tax compliance experience
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools; experience working with large and dynamic data sets.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
- Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Work Arrangement
Subject to business requirements, this role may be determined to be remote or in a hybrid capacity. If the selected candidate resides within 50 miles of a Nutanix office requiring in-office presence (specifically in San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, Bangalore, Pune, Hoofddorp, Belgrade, Barcelona, Singapore, Sydney, or Tokyo), it will require working onsite a minimum of three days per week. Additional team-specific guidance and norms will be provided by the hiring manager.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 92,000 and USD $ 184,800 per year.
However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
