The Opportunity

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Payroll Specialist who is interested to join the payroll team at our office based in Bangalore, India.
The Senior Payroll Specialist is a key finance position supporting our India operations and is a great opportunity for a talented individual who has the desire to join a fast-growing company in a truly international environment.
The Senior Payroll Specialist will be responsible for the payroll process of India which includes collecting/providing payroll data, processing payroll through payroll software, reviewing payroll reports, disbursement of payroll, taking care of payroll compliances, and month end activities.
The Senior Payroll Specialist will play a key role in the further development of the payroll department and will closely collaborate with accounting resources within India region, as well as the corporate teams to drive alignment with any global change initiatives and projects.
This position calls for someone with a pro-active work approach, being flexible and hands-on
combined with team management experience and proven ability to manage process changes in a highly demanding and fast-paced environment (in other words not just a pure people manager but someone with an operational mindset willing to get into the nitty gritty as and when required).
As well as India payroll experience, accounting skills and high accuracy, you need to have excellent communication skills. You will have to be a highly organized and a team player. An “assertive” style that works well with others and a positive, uplifting attitude will fit best.

About the Team

Act as contact point for HR department and employees for payroll queries.
Provide back-up support and engage in solutions to employee queries to ensure user
Satisfaction and productivity. 

Works directly with employees to address complaints and requests and other matters relating to payroll Work with the audit agencies (government, external and internal) in providing the payroll information and to assist with all required audits. This includes providing copies of payroll statements, tax statements, regulatory payments/filings, et.al, as required and answering/clarifying auditors queries.
Continuously involved in process improvements and automation of tasks in all assigned areas of responsibility. Provide back-up support, as needed.
Other duties as assigned, including ad hoc report request, project work, support the
accounting team on ad hoc projects and/or daily tasks. Must be able to answer all questions
pertaining to job responsibilities.
Must be able to work with Executives or their delegates to support them with any payroll
queries/issues. Questions must be handled with diplomacy, friendliness, accuracy, timeliness,
and confidentiality.
The position will work closely with the Accounting, HR, Compensation & Benefits, Stock admin, Tax and senior members of headquarters and international locations, including managing third party relations

 

 

Your Role

Prepare and maintain the monthly payroll/compliance calendar.
Ensure all payroll data is collected from internal departments, organized, and processed in
payroll system in a timely manner.
Review payroll output reports to ensure data is processed correctly.
Prepare reporting, analyse fluctuations, and provide explanations.
Handle payroll funding and/or payment to employees and authorities.
Prepare payroll journals and record in the general ledger.
Maintenance of payroll records.
Month end close activities such as reconciling payroll accounts, preparing accruals for vacation days, gratuity, et.al, preparing month end close schedules, et.al.
Taking care of the payroll compliances pertaining to remittance of contributions and filing of
returns, as applicable. For E.g., Provident Fund, Professional tax, labour welfare fund, Income
tax for India.
Familiarize yourself and keep current with the taxation of salaries, benefits, and other factors.
Ensuring the deadlines are met which are set in the payroll/compliance calendar

 

What You Will Bring

Bachelor’s Degree in accounting.
Minimum of 6–8 years’ experience in payroll processing.
Experience in India payroll and payroll compliances is mandatory.
General ledger accounting experience preferred.
Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision.
Working knowledge of GreytHR payroll software, Net Suite, and tax/wage laws.
This position requires knowledge and experience in General Accounting to handle the daily
activities and provide employee support.
Well versed with MS Office applications and Excel expertise
Experience in working for an international business environment
Must have the ability to adhere to deadlines
Strong communicator and team player
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a dynamic, fast moving, and demanding environment.
Cross cultural, multilingual, and flexible team player.

 

Work Arrangement

Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. In locations where our workplace policy applies (i.e. San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, Bangalore, Pune, Hoofddorp, Belgrade, Barcelona, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo), employees are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week to foster collaboration, team alignment, and access to in-office resources.
