POSITION:DC Pallet Loop Operator

 

DEPARTMENT:Shipping and Receiving 1st Shift

 

LOCATION:Marshalltown, IA

 

SALARY CLASS:Hourly: Management-Appointed

 

INTERNAL CANDIDATES MUST HAVE LESS THAN 3 ATTENDANCE POINT IN ORDER TO APPLY

 

QUALIFICATIONS:     

  • Must be self-motivated and able to make decisions in a timely manner.
  • Communication is highly critical for the operator to contact supervisors and/or maintenance when any event occurs.
  • It is the operator’s duties to monitor and properly react to situations which may cause downtime or allow the system to shut down and be proactive in making decisions
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to speak multiple languages beneficial.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The operator will perform audits on the pallets as they exit to the pallet loop by scanning the pallet label and verify that it shows the correct product and number of boxes. If not, he is to remove the label and place on top of the boxes. He is to notify his supervisor and palletizer operator that the palletizers are potentially out of sync. He needs to audit every pallet coming out until the situation is corrected.
  • The pallet loop operator insures that pallets exiting the wrappers are properly aligned on the slave

Board and the system runs properly

  • The operator monitors the travel of each pallet watching for signs that it is twisting on the conveyor. Items that cause pallets to twist include trailing poly wrap, strapping, tape, or overhung boxes improperly flagging photo eyes as well as improper operation of the pallet conveyors in manual. The operator, with proper lockout-tag out, will correct the pallet so that it travels properly (this at time requires the assistance of maintenance).
  • The pallet loop operator also monitors that the scanners are working properly so that pallets get off the loop when and where they are destined.
  • The operator must monitor the LTS (load transfer station) where the slave boards are removed and the transportation pallets are placed.
  • The operator is required to keep a daily log of events that have occurred and turn in report at the end of the shift.
  • The operator is to establish a working knowledge of the pallet loop and what each photo eye and scanner controls and monitors for any failures.
  • The area must be kept clean and orderly at all times.
