TRUCK GARAGE- MECHANIC

Position Summary:
The Garage Mechanic repairs and maintains all company vehicles assigned to the Moorefield Complex.  This person must be able to perform repairs and maintenance on all company vehicles.  This requires mechanical skills, welding skills, and troubleshooting.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • A garage mechanic will start the shift by making sure everything in the garage area is running efficiently.  Then the mechanic will look over the assigned job tasks for that day.
  • Must be able to work well with others, communication with others, and have good decision-making ability.
  • CDL is a plus, must be willing to obtain. 
  • Must have a valid State Inspection License or be willing to obtain one within 6 months. 
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years heavy-duty truck repair experience.
  • Must have loader repair experience.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain Air Conditioner and Brake Certification.
  • Desire to be part of a proactive, motivated team.
  • Garage mechanic will perform the PM’s during production run time on a weekly  basis and report deficiency to supervise.
  • Required to enter data into SAP.
  • Must be well rounded mechanically—able to work on loaders, fire fans, reefers and other odd equipment.
  • Must be able to learn and use diagnostic software on a laptop.
  • Must be able to work in wash bay department if need be.  this includes washing equipment, degreasing equipment and cleaning inside of reefer trailers etc.
  • Must be willing to go off site for training.
  • Must be able to lift 85 lbs. and be able to work at high heights.
  • Must be able to do administrative duties and records, ie (P.M’s, logs, etc.)
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures and humidity.
  • Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and possibly have to work different shifts (day, evening, or night).
  • Prefer at least two years’ experience. Must complete a successful background check.
  • Other duties as directed.
Basic Skills and Qualifications:
  • Ability to comprehend simple instructions.
  • Ability to apply common sense.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to work in cool temperatures (around 40 degrees).
  • Ability to stand and use hands for 8-11 hours per day.
  • Ability to multitask and work quickly.
  • Must be a team player and be willing to work close to other employees at some stations. (Less than 3 feet apart.)
  • Must have good communication skills.
  • Good hand and eye coordination required.
  • Food or production experience preferred.
