Sr. Instructional Designer
This is NOT a remote work position.
This position is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining curricula and programs used to train employees in a variety of functions. Conducts needs assessments, selects instructional models, and designs instructional content. The scope of responsibilities also includes development of instructional materials in consultation with subject matter experts. Curates content and teaches experts how to generate and share content. Ensures that instructional programs are effectively implemented. Evaluates content and adjusts as required. Conducts complex instructional design projects. Act as curriculum design subject matter expert.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and develop high-quality training that is consistently innovative, highly engaging, and utilizes the most advanced techniques and technology available, with a demonstrable impact on business performance objectives and learning needs
- Design instruction that reflects an understanding of the diversity of learners and groups of learners
- Create and implement evaluation plans to demonstrate business impact of training initiatives
- Identify and use a variety of media formats in the design and development of curriculum
- Achieve and model team quality standards in all aspects of learning design
- Collaborate with leadership team and business subject matter experts to design large-scale, engaging learning that enhances business performance, with minimal support
- Develop partner relationships with SMEs and stakeholders to ensure that training meets expectations beyond initial implementation
- Proactively partner with internal customers to determine performance and training needs
- Partner with the business to create clear learning objectives in support of business goals
- Collaborate with assigned L&D Staff, Manager(s) and/or Director(s) to create quality training deliverables
- Promote collaboration, partnerships, and relationships among the participants of a project
- Serve as creative and planning resource to internal customers
- Conduct reviews of training materials to ensure learning objectives are met
- Provide enhancements and revisions to existing materials based on SME/Stakeholder feedback
- Diagnose and communicate outcomes, risks, and follow ups that result from train the trainer activities to appropriate L&D Leaders and Stakeholders
- Actively participate and/or facilitate in-person or virtual meetings as needed to support learning projects
- Provide support as an administrator for the LMS platforms utilized by Pilgrim’s supporting the L&D team as well as learners accessing the platform.
- Manage user profiles, permissions, course and program structures for the LMS platforms utilized by Pilgrim’s.
- Upload, build and maintain automated training assignments for new hire and other role-based training.
- Maintain a structured content repository and archive system, ensuring up-to-date, accessible, and searchable materials.
- Support stakeholders in accessing data-driven insights to make informed decisions.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency in reporting processes and course analytics.
- Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience
- Maintain accurate status of projects, milestones, and tasks in the team project tracking tool
- Act as curriculum design subject matter expert to include providing feedback to other curriculum developers and training delivery instructors
- Serve as a mentor and/or knowledge resource to less experienced designers
- Model the adoption of ongoing improvements in team processes and standards
- Manage external resources to maximize cost effectiveness and quality
- Maintain current knowledge of latest industry tools and processes
- Perform other duties as requested
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Proven competency in Instructional Design with expertise in the development of blended learning – instructor led (ILT), virtual, asynchronous & synchronous, e-learning, immersive (VR), etc.
- Skilled in multimedia curriculum development, as well as graphic design, video editing, and animation
- Superior working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Articulate 360, Canva, and other authoring tools
- Ability to think strategically and anticipate future trends, needs and expectations
- Skills in measurement and evaluation of training initiatives
- Skills in teambuilding, relationship building, facilitation and presentation
- Ability to consult/use systems thinking to identify the root cause of performance gaps.
- Ability to operate comfortably in an ambiguous and uncertain environment without right answers or obvious solutions.
- Ability to proactively recommend innovative and experimental approaches to delivering learning experiences.
- Influence stakeholders to adapt a learner-centric focus, new approaches, and/or pushback to uncover win-win solutions.

Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
- At least 4 years of Learning & Development experience
- At least 2 years’ experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- At least 2 years’ experience using virtual training platforms (Microsoft Teams & Webex Training preferred)
- At least 2 years’ experience in instructional design methodology (ADDIE/SAM/AGILE)
- At least 2 years’ experience utilizing authoring tools (Articulate 360 preferred)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Adult Learning, Instructional Design, Human Resource Development, or related field.
- 7+ years learning experience design, learning development supporting an Operations organization
- 3 + years project management, leadership experience
- 2+ years experience in designing and developing a variety of learning solutions (web-based training & virtual instructor-led: video, eLearning, gamification, podcast, infographics)
- 2+ years of experience in performance support & analysis
