Your role at GEI.
We are seeking a Senior Water-Wastewater Engineer to join our Infrastructural Renewal, Design and Construction (IRDC) Civil team to provide engineering solutions for water and wastewater projects for both municipal and private clients. This position will involve work on all aspects of project delivery as described below.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
  • Overall project and client management
  • Deliver infrastructure projects related to water and wastewater facilities, including water and wastewater treatment systems, pumping stations, storage structures, valve chambers, pressure pipelines, condition assessments, feasibility studies, Municipal Class Environmental Assessments, preliminary and detailed design, construction contract administration, commissioning support and training
  • Communicating with internal discipline leads, sub-consultants, clients, contractors, and Regulatory agencies such as the Ministry of Environment, local Municipalities, and conservation authorities
  • Work together with a dynamic multi-disciplinary team
  • Lead and support activities such as client management, proposal preparation, report writing, cost estimation, engineering designs, tendering, construction contract administration, and site inspection
  • Lead, train and mentor junior staff in an encouraging atmosphere of continuous improvement
  • Participate in leadership and developing Civil-IRDC Initiative Action Plans
  • Contribute to the health and wellbeing of the company, team culture and be a positive influence on others
  • Be responsible for financial management of projects
  • Contribute to growing the business with a primary focus on water and wastewater treatment
Minimum Qualifications
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario
  • Minimum of 10 years of civil/process engineering experience with a focus on wastewater projects
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, managing your own time and priorities in communication with team members, disciplines leads and leadership.
  • Ability to build relationships and trust with internal and external team members
  • Strong organizational, oral, written communication and problem-solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of wastewater treatment fundamentals
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a personal vehicle
  • Knowledge of provincial water and wastewater regulations, Ministry of Environment Design Guidelines, and the Ontario Building Code
