GEI’s Glastonbury, CT (Hartford) office is seeking a motivated & experienced Geotechnical Engineer / Project Manager to assist on a variety of projects throughout the region. Project types will include residential and commercial buildings, infrastructure and transportation, dams and levees, and waterfront development.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

  • Plan, manage, and execute projects.
  • Perform geotechnical analysis and design.
  • Prepare geotechnical reports.
  • Observe and manage field explorations and construction activities.
  • Design and implement geotechnical instrumentation projects.
  • Assist in preparing full design packages with calculations, drawings, and specifications.
  • Assist in overseeing construction of specialty geotechnical items such as deep foundations, tiebacks, and grouting, among others.
  • Develop proposals and participate in other business development activities.
  • Communicate directly with clients, contractors, and third-party vendors.
  • Train and mentor staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering. Geotechnical course work required.
  • 6 to 12 or more years of experience.
  • Must have passed the F.E. exam.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel on assignments as needed. 
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Ability to perform field work on active construction sites without restrictions, and in inclement weather if required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering preferred. Structural course work is a plus.
  • Professional Engineer’s license preferred.
