GEI Consultants, Inc. (GEI) is seeking an Intermediate Civil Construction Technologist to support the construction oversight of projects out of our Kitchener office. Under supervision of senior staff, this individual will provide support to ongoing infrastructure projects, including roads, sewers, watermains, and wastewater pumping stations. Field activities will include performing construction inspection and documentation, surveying, and layout.
 
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
  • Construction oversight, including inspection of civil engineering projects for compliance with contract drawings, specifications, permits and other associated contract documents and requirements. Projects may include watermains, sewers, road works, site civil development, and wastewater pumping stations.
  • Perform topographic surveys to document site conditions, construction volumes, and conformance to design.
  • Preparation of status and daily inspection reports for documentation of work observed.
  • Preparation of construction documentation reports, figures, and as-built drawings.
  • Provide assistance with constructability reviews, cost estimates, schedules, etc.
  • Provide assistance with contract administration functions during construction, including quantity calculations/review, schedule analysis, change order preparation, correspondence, RFI responses, submittal review and responses, payment certificate processing, and documentation preparation, logging, and tracking.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Civil Engineering Technology Diploma (3-year advanced diploma).
  • 2-5 years of previous professional experience in civil engineering construction and consulting; knowledge and familiarity with construction inspection.
  • Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
  • Preference will also be given toward candidates with experience using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and performing survey work.
  • G license and access to a vehicle.
