SUMMARY

Edge is seeking an experienced Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead – Ground Support Equipment (GSE) to oversee the development, integration, and delivery of mission-critical support systems for our uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS). This role will be responsible for executing projects from the Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (SEIT) regarding GCS hardware (including laptops), antennas and radio hardware, chargers, spare kits, field support kits, containers, and hand controllers. The IPT Lead will work cross-functionally with manufacturing, program management, and field operations teams to ensure that GSE solutions meet operational requirements and are delivered on time and within budget.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties.  

  • Lead the design, development, and integration of GSE solutions, including ground control station (GCS) hardware, antennas, radio communication equipment, power systems, and field support kits. 
  • Own the execution of GSE-related projects, ensuring alignment with program objectives, budget, and schedule. 
  • Manage the selection, configuration, and integration of laptops, communication hardware, antennas, chargers, and power solutions to support UAS operations. 
  • Oversee the development of field deployment kits, spare parts kits, and ruggedized transport containers to ensure mission readiness in operational environments. 
  • Support testing, validation, and field trials of GSE components to ensure reliability, performance, and ease of use in real-world conditions. 
  • Interface with the System Engineering, Integration, and Test team (SEIT) and Product/Technology Directors to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions. 
  • Conduct design reviews, technical evaluations, and integration planning to ensure seamless coordination across teams. 
  • Collaborate with Project Engineers and other IPTs to ensure integrated design across all Edge Autonomy products 
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to GSE design, manufacturing, and field deployment. 
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and technicians working on GSE-related projects. 
  • Ensure all documentation, user manuals, and training materials for GSE products are properly developed and maintained.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

·           Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field or equivalent experience.

  • Strong background in ground support equipment (GSE) design, development, and integration for aerospace or UAS applications. 
  • Experience with GCS hardware, including laptops, antennas, radio hardware, and networking systems. 
  • Knowledge of power management systems, battery chargers, and electrical interfaces for GSE applications. 
  • Familiarity with ruggedized field support equipment, including spare kits, transport cases, and deployable solutions. 
  • Understanding of communication protocols and radio frequency (RF) systems used in UAS operations. 
  • Proficiency with digital tools (Schematics, CAD, Bills of Material) and system integration platforms for GSE development. 
  • 10+ years of experience in aerospace, defense, or UAS industries, with a focus on ground support equipment and mission support systems. 
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional teams to deliver GSE solutions from concept to field deployment. 
  • Experience managing hardware selection, system integration, and testing of GCS components and field support kits. 
  • Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple workstreams simultaneously. 
  • Excellent technical problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve integration challenges. 
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with experience engaging with engineers, program managers, and field support teams. 
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a proactive approach to managing risks and project execution. 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

·           Master’s degree in Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

·           Prior experience in deploying GSE solutions for operational UAS programs. 

·           Experience working in DoD or defense contracting environments, with an understanding of logistics and sustainment requirements. 

·           Ability to mentor and develop junior engineers within the team. 

·           Adaptability to work in dynamic, high-priority environments with shifting technical challenges. 

·           Experience working with ruggedized computing and networking hardware for military or aerospace applications. 

·           Knowledge of military and defense industry standards related to ground support equipment and mission systems.
