Description
Guidance, Navigation and Control Engineer – PX4 Flight Tuning
We are seeking a highly skilled Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC) Engineer with strong experience in PX4 flight control systems to join our UAV development team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced PX4 firmware tuning for attitude, rate, and position controllers to optimize UAV performance across different aircraft types.
- Conduct detailed flight performance evaluations, analyse log data, and implement tuning improvements for stability, responsiveness, and mission requirements.
- Develop, refine, and validate GNC algorithms for navigation, control, and autonomous flight behaviours.
- Integrate and calibrate sensors including IMUs, GPS/GNSS, magnetometers, barometers, and vision-based systems.
- Execute SITL/HITL simulations to validate tuning and control algorithms before deployment to hardware.
- Support flight-tests operations by preparing tuning configurations, monitoring in-flight behaviour, and troubleshooting issues.
- Diagnose anomalies using flight logs and system telemetry, implementing robust fixes and improvements.
- Contribute to PX4 firmware enhancements by modifying or adding modules when required for performance or functionality.
- Document tuning processes, control logic, system behaviour, and validation results for engineering and production teams.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in GNC engineering, UAV flight control, or autonomous systems development.
- Extensive experience with PX4 Autopilot, MAVLink, QGroundControl, and comprehensive flight-log analysis.
- Strong understanding of control theory, aircraft dynamics, sensor fusion, and EKF-based state estimation.
- Proficient with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and/or C++ for modelling, tuning, and algorithm development.
- Practical experience tuning multirotor, fixed wing, or VTOL platforms for real-world operational environments.
- Skilled with simulation tools such as ROS/ROS2, Gazebo, JMAVSim, or AirSim for GNC testing and validation.
- Hands-on experience participating in UAV flight tests, diagnosing issues, and iteratively improving system behaviour.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills suited for high-reliability UAV production environments.
- Good spoken and written English communication skills.
- Bachelor’s in aerospace engineering, robotics, control systems, or related field.
We offer:
- Modern production facility with cutting-edge equipment and a dynamic work environment.
- Competitive compensation.
- Health and children accident insurance, after probation time.
