SALARY RANGE: The anticipated salary range for this role is $28.50 to $42.50 / hour. This range reflects a good faith estimate based on the targeted level for the role and typical compensation benchmarks across U.S. locations. Actual compensation may vary depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications, experience, geographical location, and internal alignment.
SUMMARY
The Electrical Aerospace Drafter will collaborate closely with electrical engineers to transform conceptual designs into detailed schematics and technical drawings. This role involves creating precise diagrams, such as wiring layouts and system plans, which are crucial for guiding the construction or modification of electrical systems. The Electrical Aerospace Drafter plays a key role in bridging the gap between innovative ideas and practical implementation, ensuring that all designs are accurately represented and easily understood by the engineering and production teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties.
- Create detailed and accurate technical drawings for new and existing electrical products, including PCBs, wire harnesses and ground support equipment.
- Develop comprehensive documentation packages, including drawings, procedures, and specifications, for both new and existing products.
- Collaborate closely with electrical engineers to translate conceptual designs into precise technical schematics.
- Work with cross-functional teams, including mechanical and aerospace engineers, as well as production and quality assurance departments, to ensure cohesive and integrated designs.
- Participate in design reviews and documentation peer reviews, providing feedback and ensuring high standards of quality.
- Observe and assist engineering and production teams in resolving technical issues, ensuring that designs are practical and manufacturable.
- Communicate any challenges or updates to leadership, ensuring transparency and alignment with project goals.
- Maintain meticulous records and documentation to support ongoing development and production efforts.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design and documentation processes, leveraging industry best practices and cutting-edge technologies.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The following are a non-exhaustive list of qualifications for the position:
- Associate’s degree or certification in Drafting, CAD, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency with CAD software, such as AutoCAD, Zuken E3, or SolidWorks Electrical, for creating wiring diagrams and harness drawings.
- Strong understanding of electrical drafting standards and practices
- Familiarity with document management processes for maintaining drawing records, part lists, and revisions.
- 4+ years of experience in electrical drafting, including wiring diagrams, harness design, PCBs or similar work in electrical or engineering settings.
- Proven experience in creating and managing technical drawings for production and assembly.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in drafting work.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain clear documentation and revision histories.
- Good communication and collaboration skills for working effectively with engineers and production teams.
- Avionics and electrical systems
- Familiarity with the industrial specifications and requirements (ISO, MIL, ASME, IPC, etc.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Associates or Bachelors in Electrical Engineering
- Hands-on PCB or harness testing and assembly using common electrical tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, soldering iron, crimpers, etc.)
- Designing, documenting, or assembling electrical equipment, such as PCBs and wire harnesses
- Altium PCB and Harness Designer
- Solidworks, or similar 2D CAD software
- Component library creation and management
- Integrating electrical, software, mechanical systems.
- Quality inspections and improvements.
- Knowledge of the following:
- Avionics and electrical systems
- UAV or RC Plane operation
- Ground support equipment systems and general associated equipment
- Familiarity with the industrial specifications and requirements (ISO, MIL, ASME, IPC, etc.)

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The work environment may involve a standard office setting while also incorporating elements of a production area. Employees will use standard office equipment, including computers, and must demonstrate stamina to sit or stand while maintaining attention to detail despite potential interruptions. The role may require occasional activities such as walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and bending. Vision is necessary for reading printed materials and a computer screen, while hearing and speech are essential for effective communication both in person and over the telephone. Additionally, the position may necessitate travel by air or automobile. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coats, to ensure safety in the production environment. Employees may be able to lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
