Position Summary:

The Receiving Supervisor plans, organizes and monitors the receiving and storage of products received from our manufacturing facilities, ensuring a smooth and consistent operation so products and supplies can be located and distributed in an effective and efficient manner.  This position leads all associates of the department and is responsible for the performance management of the associates within that department.


The Receiving Supervisor has a thorough understanding of FTZ operations and customs filings; working knowledge of import/export requirements; knowledge/experience with SAP; understanding of current quality methods; familiarity with GS1 Bar Code and Measurement standards; and computer and Excel proficiency.

  • Maintains a staffing level to accomplish the receiving mission in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Plans and coordinates work, trains and motivates, monitors and evaluates performance of receiving associates; ensures their ability to safely operate equipment to move products to and from storage configurations; counsels, records and disciplines as necessary.
  • Develops team leaders to effectively oversee the daily routines of their assigned associates.
  • Maintains an equipment structure and level to accomplish the receiving mission in a safe, effective means.
  • Monitors the unloading of all products into the receiving department; ensures products are staged for counting and inspection; ensures receiving reports accurately represent products received.
  • Resolves discrepancies with accounting regarding invoices, packing slips, and receiver reports. Monitors the flow of paperwork from receiving to inventory control for timely data entry.
  • Oversees the movement of product from receiving to the warehouse in an efficient, effective and safe manner.
  • Ensures products are stored properly to conserve space and comply with safety procedures.
  • Monitors and measures receiving performance for accuracy of locator, receiving reporting, and movement and storage of products.
  • Anticipates and requests funding for future personnel requirements. Anticipates and requests funding for future material handling equipment.
  • Suggests and implements changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase safety and efficiency of warehouse, department, or associates
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, and assists associates in solving work problems
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate associates to achieve work goals
  • Maintains time and production records
  • Confers with other Supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments
  • Interfaces with other departments to develop and implement training programs as needed.
  • Confers with associates and Human Resources to resolve grievances

Essential Qualifications:

This position requires five or more years of progressive experience in receiving in a distribution center, and a minimum of two years of experience supervising/leading people.

To successfully perform the essential functions of this job, the associate must have the ability to perform physical activities such as standing for prolonged periods of time, bending for prolonged periods of time, climbing, balancing, walking, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds repetitively; be in good physical condition; and have good hand/eye coordination and motor skills.

Beneficial Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred, or equivalent education/work experience.

Environmental Factors:

This job operates in an office and in the warehouse. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Regular workdays for this position are Monday through Friday. Occasionally, responsibilities may require additional time and/or evening/weekend time in order to meet deadlines.
