Position Summary:      
     
Are you a Visionary with an expertise in uncovering new business opportunities and establishing new relationships with national retail customers?       
The New Business Development Manager (NBDM) will be a Pioneer,  partnering with the Sales, Marketing and Product Development departments to focus on finding new business prospects and new markets that generate incremental sales while maintaining profitability objectives.       
Our ideal candidate will be hands-on and have a start-up mentality on building new business. They will be able to craft & implement an effective sales approach, derived from market analysis, to grow our existing line of products into new retail channels. The individual must have a ‘hunter’ mentality, and be a strong negotiator who is self-motivated, enthusiastic, competitive, tenacious, adaptable, intellectually curious and a clear communicator (both written and verbal) with an aptitude and desire to uncover new business opportunities with new and existing accounts.       

Travel to Stamford headquarters- twice a year at a minimum to attend the National Sales Conferences and learn about new product launches, marketing strategy, etc. 

 
Responsibilities:      
     
  • Key Account Sales.  Develop, execute, and oversee a business strategy that prioritizes incremental growth by prioritizing new customers and new channels of distribution.
  • Strategy Development. Work with sales & marketing teams to develop profitable sell in strategies at new and existing accounts.
  • New Customer Acquisition. Identify and pursue prospects, securing appointments, presenting, closing sales, and detailed account follow-up.
  • Inventory Management. Ensure all sales opportunities and inventory needs are clearly communicated to our planning and procurement teams.
  • P&L Management. Work with Marketing and Finance teams to manage profitability of programs.
  • Partner closely with the Operations and Customer Service teams to manage business needs, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of information for all orders in process.
  • Regular Communication and reporting to the internal Sales, Marketing, Finance & Operations Teams
  • Follow internal controls and company policies as set by company and job function.
  • Contribute to the success of company by leading or assisting with other projects and tasks as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:      
  • Proven record of Sales Growth and New Customer Acquisition
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; Minimum of 5 years of proven sales experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience setting sales and executing goals.
  • Experience managing a broker network to help manage account base.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and internet applications.
  • Experience with analyzing and interpreting syndicated data sources.
  • Strong customer service, negotiation skills and ability to interact with customers at all levels throughout their organization.
  • Self-starter with excellent time management, multi-tasking, strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Strong work ethic and sense of integrity, trustworthiness, and ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Creative in brainstorming and proposing new ideas and solutions to existing problems.
  • Adaptability and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of consumer behaviors and industry trends.
Environmental Factors:     
  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to use a computer keyboard and view a monitor for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally for business (40-45% initially with new accounts (it will reduce as they are established).)
