Logistics Specialist
Description
The Logistics Specialist is responsible for providing strategic planning to achieve key business objectives in our logistics operations. You will act as a subject matter expert in support of operational best practices including supply chain, trade compliance, outsourcing, operational optimization, and tools/technologies. You will monitor the inbound (overseas) shipment to delivery to 3PL warehouse and be the liaison to communicate with broker and carrier.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Experience in the 3PL field launching logistics programs for leading logistics sectors
- Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for business/opportunity analysis
- Benchmark competitive 3PL and carrier RFP/RFQ’s
- Understanding and managing customs and tariffs duties
- Support vendor selection and overall vendor operations strategy
- Review and assist statement of work creation and contract negotiation with vendor partners
- Manage and monitor inbound (overseas) shipments
- Co-work with headquarters team for freight forwarder issues
- Co-work with broker and carrier (drayage) company to ensure they hit KPI
- Lead project implementation to drive process improvement initiatives
- Collecting, analyze, and interpreting data
- Identifying patterns and trends in data sets
- Defining new data collection and analysis processes
Required Qualification:
Years of Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Science, Education, or related field or relative on the job experience
Work Experience
- 5+ years of experience in logistics environment and project management
- Proven track record for leading and developing teams that are proactive in driving process improvement
- Experience working with 3PL companies
Knowledge and Skills
- Expert in the delivery and evaluation of logistics supply chain and trade compliance
- Proactive and the ability to work well independently as well as in a team environment
- Work well with cross functional teams
- Strong ownership and organization skills
- Proven skills with MS Visio and MS Excel in order to successfully execute projects
- Working knowledge and understanding of supply chain, global logistics, and trade compliance
- Ability to work confidently in a rapidly changing, fast-paced and results-oriented corporate environment where a high degree of flexibility is required
- Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining strong partnering relationships with internal and external customers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in logistics and supply chain management
- Ability to plan and prioritize work
- Must be highly organized and able to manage multiple responsibilities
- Model leadership behaviors supporting integrity, valuing diversity, innovation, building relationships, customer focus and teamwork
- Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications.
- Verbal and written communication skills necessary to explain complex and/or confidential information
Working Conditions:
- Office Only: Typically works in an office environment
- Availability to travel domestically and some international
- Long periods of travel – more than 2 weeks at a time (less than 5% of the time)
