ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Solution Partners organization provides ownership to the strategic and technical needs of Wind River’s key partners, including driving forward involvement in open-source and consortia ecosystems. The role involves running a world class open-source and consortia Program Management Office (PMO), which provides the single source of truth for all open-source and consortia activities.

Interface & Collaboration

Working with the leading provider of integrated embedded software solutions, you will work with the some of the most talented product managers, engineers, solution architects in the embedded industry. In this highly visible role, you will work closely with various parts of the organization from engineering to sales, to facilitate Wind River’s leadership position in various open source and consortia activities.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the single source of truth for all Open Source, Consortia and developer community (OSC) initiatives
  • Guide the company on open source best practices, and how to approach and get involved in OSC activities.
  • Manage the policies, processes, and governance of OSC initiatives
  • “Define and Drive Success” by ensuring that each initiative has a well thought out theses of why we joined, and how we plan to propel both the internal and external organization forward
  • Represent and evangelize Wind River’s presence at OSC organizations and thought leadership events like trade shows, conferences, talks, press events, customers events, etc.
  • Represent the company at the board and working group levels of OSC organizations.
  • Ensure that the company is making appropriate contributions to OSC organizations
  • Interact with internal and external organizational leaders to ensure that we are adhering to the plan for each initiative
  • Ensure that we have advance planning in place for entry, exit and risk mitigation scenarios
  • Perform on-boarding for new initiatives
  • Manage and share learnings from initiatives that worked well, as well as initiatives that didn’t work well
  • Own and manage the budget for OSC activities.
  • Some travel (20-30%) may be required

 

ABOUT YOU

Core Competencies & Demonstrated Success:

  • Significant experience managing and participating in open source, consortia and developer communities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated ability to nurture and support diverse, technical contributors in a distributed environment.
  • Understanding of concepts around Embedded, Cloud, DevOps, Open Architecture, Multicore Processors, etc., is expected.

Qualifications

  • BSCS/BSEE or equivalent technical degree), MS preferred
  • 8+ years of managing open source and consortia activities
  • Demonstrated leadership in at least one open source project or consortium
  • Experience with open source initiatives like Zephyr, Yocto or StarlingX
  • Strong and effective written, verbal and presentation communication skills with the ability to work across multiple geographies and multiple time zones
  • Strong technical analysis and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated successful interactions in open source communities in resolving complex problems with innovative solutions
  • High level of self-motivation and requires minimal supervision. Should be a hands-on type of person with the initiative to dive in and do whatever is necessary to get the task completed
