ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY & THE TEAM   

Wind River is seeking experienced high-performing engineers with excellent work ethics to help with the roll-out of our new cloud-native Wind River Studio platform for mission-critical intelligent systems.  Wind River Studio is the first cloud-native platform for the development, deployment, operations, and servicing of mission-critical intelligent edge systems that require security, safety, and reliability. Architected to deliver digital scale across the full lifecycle through a single pane of glass to accelerate transformative business outcomes.  

We are looking for talented Dev(Sec)Ops engineers to assist in the migration and adoption of customer’s existing CI/CD pipelines to Wind River Studio Developer (WRSD) product.  This person will need to leverage his/her existing expertise on SCM, source code build, code scanning, testing, and deployment methods to be successful at this position.  This position is in our Customer Experience / Professional Services organization – so you will be working with internal teams like Engineering, Customer Support, Customer Success, and Field Engineering as well as external teams at our customer sites.  Work can take place at a Wind River office or remotely, although expect occasional domestic and potentially international travel.  We are looking for senior level engineers with a minimum of 8 years of related experience.  

The successful candidate must have hands-on experience in embedded software development, Dev(Sec)Ops CI/CD pipeline development, and professional services. Highly adaptable team player who can quickly ramp up on new technologies and accomplish goals in a fast-paced agile environment who emphasize on teamwork productivity. A combination of strong technical and communication skills plus exceptional work ethics in owning the task completions are some of the essential criteria.  Technical leadership and mentoring of junior engineers is also expected.  

   

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS  

Develop new and modification to existing Dev(Sec)Ops CI/CD pipelines.  

Required:   

  • Ten (10) years of Embedded Software Developer with five (5) years of Dev(Sec)Ops experience.
  • Gather customer requirements and implement custom pipelines and workflows based on customer needs.
  • Responsible for managing and maintaining integrations between various opensource or commercial CI/CD and code scanning tools.
  • Modify user interfaces and reporting options for these tools as required to support customer needs.
  • Have a broad understanding of various cloud-native tools and how they might be integrated into the above.
  • Integrate customer automated testing tools and suites and virtual labs.
  • Deliver and maintain cloud infrastructure, spanning on-premises solutions and public cloud instances like Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure. Configure and customize features to the infrastructure using K8S, Docker, Jenkins, Terraform and other cloud-based tools.
  • Experience in working in Agile Scrum and/or Agile SAFe software development environments.

Qualifications:  

  • BSc (Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree).
  • Knowledge of embedded systems and real-time operating systems/environments and embedded software development.
  • Experience in a customer facing / Professional Services role.
  • Experience implementing Dev(Sec)Ops customer pipelines and workflows.
  • Expertise in AWS infrastructure relating to Dev(Sec)Ops and CI/CD activities.
  • Hands-on usage of Git/GitLab, Gerrit, Jenkins (with Groovy), K8S, Docker, EKS/AKS, Terraform, and Ansible playbook experience.
  • Experience with Linux software development.
  • Excellent programming skills using Python, Go, and C/C++.
  • At least a total of eight (8) years of experience working in combination with embedded software development, DevOps, and/or Professional Services.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience working in DevOps and creating/maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Minimum of five (5) or more years of software development participating in an Agile/Scrum/SAFe development environment.
  • Solid understanding of software engineering workflows and developer tools (source code configuration management tools, requirements management tools, code review tools, problem/action item/bug tracking, code scanning tools, firmware over the air, automated testing, automated deployment, virtual test labs, hardware simulation, etc.)

   

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • MSc degree (Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree).
  • Broad cloud-native tool experience (examples might include Cloudify, Helm, Ceph, S3/EBS, Tekton, Min.io, Kafka, Harbor, Tozny, etc.)
  • Multi-region AWS and/or Azure experience with High Availability (HA)/Disaster Recovery (DR).
  • Expertise in Azure infrastructure relating to Dev(Sec)Ops and CI/CD activities.
  • AWS GovCloud, Secret Cloud, on-premises, and airgap experience.
  • Knowledge of on-premises technology like VMware vSphere/ESXi, OpenStack and/or Proxmox.
  • Certified Scrum Master and/or Certified Product Owner would be a plus.
  • AWS Solution Architect, AWS DevOps, HashiCorp K8S, and/or HashiCorp Cloud Engineer Certifications would be helpful.
  • Cloud-based security understanding and hands-on work (TLS/mTLS, ISTIO, penetration testing, threat assessment, etc.).

Compensation  

The annual base salary range for this role’s listed grade level is currently $118,200-$167,620 plus bonus for Colorado, New York, New Jersey and Southern California residents, and $143,100 - $202,880 plus bonus for Northern California (SF Bay Area), New York City, and Washington residents. Salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, location and abilities of the applicant, and equity with other team members. Employees in this role are also eligible for the following benefits in accordance with the terms of the Company's plans: health, dental, vision insurance, life insurance, flex time off, eligibility to enroll in 401k, 12 paid holidays.
