Position at Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc.

SEWS — Farmington Hills, Michigan Office.  Although located at SEWS – Farmington Hills Office, this is a Hybrid position, which combines both in office and off-site work.  Associates are required to work at least two days in the office each week, but also have the flexibility to work off-site.
Basic Purpose:
Account Manager is the primary point of contact from Advanced Business Development for engaging new customers, such
as GM, Rivian, Lucid and other emerging OEMs, to develop business. The Account Manager is also the focal point to interface and coordinate with internal SEWS functions to respond to customer inquiries, including Requests for Quote.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead collaboration among SEWS, customers and suppliers related to new business development to support activities of Advanced Business Development (ABD) Division.
  • Manage customer's commercial and technical inquiries as the primary point of interface to communicate with SEWS internal functional teams.
  • Manage Electronics Business Unit current business accounts (Ford, Stellantis).
  • Gather and analyze data about customers and market trends to develop sales strategy to establish objectives for new business development.
  • Facilitate customer related meetings, including planning for visits and audits, of Sumitomo facilities in US and Mexico.
  • Travel to support customer meetings and plant visits, as well as sales discussions with related Sumitomo affiliates.
  • Manage customer sales forecast, track budget and achieve objectives related to financial performance for new business development.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree – Preferably in Business, Engineering or a related field
  • Experience: 10+ years progressive experience in Automotive sales or account management. Specific experience related to Electrical Distribution System products, including components, wire harnesses or electrical distribution boxes, is a plus.
  • Good financial capabilities, including sales and budget management
  • Skills/Certifications: English fluency required - Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact closely with all customer representatives to develop new business is required.
  • Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
