This role will be to work for us as an Underwriting Technician reporting to the Head of Energy Underwriting.
Your responsibilities will include:
Key Accountabilities
  • Assist the Senior Underwriter and/or Head of Energy in the pricing of D&F business, both new and renewals.
  • Input, monitor and analyse the Energy portfolio accumulation exposures using Sequel Impact
  • Work with the internal Exposure Management team to ensure our accumulations are accurate and up to date
  • Formulate the International Energy Treaty Realistic Disaster Scenarios (RDSs) for Lloyd’s
  • Communicate with Brokers to obtain risk information and respond to enquiries
  • Assist the Underwriters in the preparation and issuance of quotes
  • Assist in the preparation of underwriting presentations to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Report on statistical and underwriting analysis of the portfolio
  • Produce in-house reports as required
  • Assist the Energy UA with risk processing if required during busy periods/holiday cover.
Technical Skills & Experience
  • Educated to A-Level standard (ideally including Mathematics)
  • Working towards ACII
  • Experience of dealing directly with London Market Brokers
  • Effective analytical skills to evaluate information
  • Numeracy and statistical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships and team working skills
  • Good organizational skills, methodical and with the ability to focus on detail
  • IT literate with strong working knowledge of MS Office, specifically Excel
  • Experience of Upstream Energy operational and construction risks
  • Knowledge of Downstream/Midstream Energy operational risks would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of the Renewable Energy space would be beneficial
  • Good knowledge of Sequel Impact and other accumulation tools
  • Working knowledge of pricing tools
