Join Our Team
You will be our Senior Reinsurance Accountant responsible for providing accounting support to various SiriusPoint operating entities, reporting to our VP Reinsurance Controller.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Responsible for the accounting and reporting of all net (direct, assumed, and ceded) business for various SiriusPoint operating entities under US GAAP.
- Review of (re)insurance contracts entered into the SICS NT underwriting systems through to the output included in the financial statements.
- Assist with the preparation of accounting memos for complex reinsurance contracts, documenting accounting conclusions for specific features, including risk transfer analysis.
- Perform various reconciliation for underwriting general ledger accounts.
- Responsible for various processes and reports critical in the quarterly underwriting close.
- Key contact for implementations, improvements, upgrades, testing and documentation of (re)insurance finance systems and data warehouses.
- Quarterly analytics of underwriting activity supporting FP&A, underwriters, actuaries and group reporting.
- Develop, implement, and maintain process documentation and controls over financial reporting.
- Communicate with and assist both internal and external auditors.
- Assist with finance transformation projects, including scoping, documenting, and testing.

Your skills and abilities should include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business, plus an Internationally recognized accounting designation (CPA, ACA, CA or equivalent). Three years post qualified.
- Minimum of 5 years work experience with an existing (re)insurance company or with a big four public accounting firm, working with reinsurance company clients.
- Detailed technical knowledge and experience with US GAAP.
- Strong knowledge of reinsurance contract terms and the different methods of premium recognition.
- The ability to evaluate a complex reinsurance contract for risk transfer.
- Operational and accounting experience with outwards reinsurance.
- Experience with change management as it pertains to systems and the ability to communicate requirements and outcomes to IT developers from a business perspective.
- Advanced MS Excel skills and the ability to navigate complex spreadsheets, and work with large data sets.
- High level of competency with Microsoft Office and the aptitude to learn various systems.
- Experience liaising with external auditors and other accounting and reinsurance professionals.
- Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills plus the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
- Previous experience with documenting and maintaining Sox controls.
- Strong analytical ability, problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt effectively to change and willingness to take on additional project work and responsibilities.
- Experience with Workday Financials, SIC NT, and Workiva would be an asset.
- Commitment to meeting deadlines and ability to work additional hours, weekends and public holidays, as required.
SALARY: The estimated salary range for this position is $130,000 per year to $150,000 per year. This is a good-faith assessment of the salary range for this position only. In determining the actual salary within this range, SiriusPoint will consider a candidate’s relevant experience, location, and other job-related factors.
