You will have responsibility for the UK branch and Lloyd’s entities (Sirius International Managing Agent and Syndicate 1945) in addition to SiriusPoint International (domiciled in Sweden) and its branch structure.
The responsibilities include the preparation, administration and monitoring of monthly accounting, operating and capital budgets, financial planning, structuring and reporting.  In addition, this position is responsible for coordinating the financial close process; assisting with budget planning and forecasts; oversight and controls over posts to the GL; assisting in the review, documentation and analysis of complex reinsurance contracts; maintaining a detailed understanding and analysis of journal entries and account reconciliations; coordination with the Company’s tax teams for compliance and transfer pricing initiatives and ensuring that all transactions (including cash transactions) are appropriately supported and recorded. 
Also, this position is directly responsible for the preparation of statutory quarterly and annual filings related to the UK branch and Lloyd’s entities (Sirius International Managing Agent and Syndicate 1945), oversight over internal management reporting, as well as interacting with both internal and external auditors.
 
This successful candidate will be a sophisticated and hands-on leader, who is committed to excellence and who will support and contribute to an environment of continuous improvement with a focus on continuing the reorganization and optimization of the Finance organization across International, enabling the finance centers of excellence in London and Stockholm to support the branch network.  This role reports to the Chief Accounting Officer.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the accounting, controls and reporting of all re/insurance activity of SiriusPoint International and Lloyd’s entities
  • Ensuring that all month-end financial accounting duties and all resulting financial reporting requirements are completed timely and accurately
  • Coordination and delivery of the monthly/quarterly close process
  • Maintenance of internal controls over financial reporting 
  • Monitor, document and communicate the administrative and accounting methods and procedures as well as their internal controls
  • Research complex accounting issues and document complex re/insurance contracts (e.g. loss portfolio transfers and deposit accounting)
  • Perform internal control procedures and exercise initiative to identify and explain variances and unusual items.
  • Ensure business transactions are properly authorized and executed and in compliance with accounting policies and procedures
  • Interact with external auditors related to financial results and reinsurance accounting and lead efforts to design and refine SOX controls
  • Provide timely and accurate financial reporting services to senior management, including information required for management reporting and SiriusPoint International & SIMA board reporting
  • Provide oversight and review of information provided to Group in support of external reporting, SEC, Investor, Board reporting requirements
  • Participate in the annual budget and quarter forecast preparation and review
  • Provide oversight over cash projections, risk transfer, accounting for debt, GL controls, G&A and allocations, Intercompany balances with other entities and deposit accounting
  • Assist with onboarding efforts for strategic investments, such as MGAs
  • Constantly review and recommend changes and improvements to financial and accounting policies, processes, procedures, and technology to meet internal and external reporting requirements, improve operation efficiency, and safeguard corporate assets.
 
Qualifications: 
  • Degree in Accounting or similar subject; 
  • Recognized Accounting Qualification preferred
  • 10-15 years of prior experience in financial services including experience in the property and casualty insurance industry; working knowledge of Lloyd's specialty insurance products a plus.
  • Prior experience in U.S. GAAP/FRS/Lloyd's/Solvency II reporting, including group consolidations; Public Company/SEC reporting experience a plus.
  • Working knowledge of reinsurance accounting/risk transfer accounting requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate technical information to varying audiences 
  • High level of personal integrity and experience managing sensitive/confidential data in a professional manner 
  • Strong leadership skills; ability to establish and maintain credibility and to influence and build trust 
  • Strong business and collaboration skills, and responsive to service needs and operational demands.
  • Demonstrated track record of excellent decision-making abilities; ability to make decisions logically, methodically and timely
