Join Our Team      
You will be a Senior Claims Adjuster, Marine. You will report to the Head of Programs and MGAs.    
Your responsibilities will include:   
  • Effectively manage a portfolio of various types of Marine claims from an oversight of third party claims administrators. In some cases, this may require direct handling of the claims.
  • To the extent your experience supports claim handling in areas of expertise outside of Marine, you may be asked to consult, handle or oversight claim handling of non-Marine claims
  • Update and maintain claim files to ensure complete records
  • Respond timely to internal and external inquiries for information relative to claims
  • Review, prepare, create, and/or send letters, reports and forms
  • Communicate claim action/ processing with claimant, client and appropriate medical contact
  • Identify notification issues, coordinate resolution and takes corrective actions as needed
  • Engage and address any customer inquiries related to lien/bond claim notices sent to property owners, general contractors and subcontractors
  • Collaborate with the claim handlers in preparing the claim notices
  • Maintain action plans to ensure contact deadlines are met and to move the file towards prompt and appropriate resolution, escalates issues as needed
   
Technical Skills & Experience   
   
  • This role has a global focus and may involve handling claims that have occurred in locations outside of the UK
  • Claim handling experience of at least 10 years in the following types of Marine coverages is preferred:
    • Cargo
    • Fine Art & Specie
    • Hull & Machinery
    • Marine War
    • Marine Liability
    • Ports & Terminals
    • Terrorism
  • Experience handling other Liability losses is helpful and a value add to the role, but is not required
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to handle severity and some frequency losses with complex coverage issues
  • Demonstrated ability to directly handle the loss or perform oversight of a third-party claim handling entity who is assigned to handle the loss
  • Ability to perform a technical audit of a third-party claim handling entity to assess that claim handling expectations and compliance requirements are being met
  • Experience working and directing legal resources on litigated matters, coverage opinions, or any regulatory or compliance issues
  • Knowledge of London Market requirements
  • Experience in conducting due diligence initial and annual reviews of third-party claim handling entities i.e. assessing claim handling expertise through interviews and audit results
  • Proficiency in use of technology and software that may be required for claim handling, ie ECF and the Microsoft suite of business software
  • Experience working outside of the London market (knowledge of specific claim handling or legal requirements is not required but a willingness to learn is a prerequisite)
  • Some travel may be required internationally
  • Since this is a global role and depending on location of a claim loss or the third-party who is handling the loss, taking calls or attending meetings virtually outside of normal work hours may be required on occasion
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a global claims team member who is focused on collaboration, results and partnership with internal and external partners
