About the Team

The Director of Systems Engineering will join the Americas Systems Engineering team, which is comprised of over 300 customer-focused technical sales professionals dedicated to providing pre-sales consulting, technical guidance, and hands-on assistance. Located in the West region, this team prides itself on its collaborative culture, where creativity, motivation, and a customer-centric approach are highly valued. The mission of the Americas Systems Engineering organization is to work closely with sales teams to design effective and appropriate customer solutions based on Nutanix offerings, fostering strong partnerships with both customers and channel partners.

You will report to the VP, Americas Systems Engineering, who leads with a focus on empowerment and collaboration, promoting a supportive environment where team members can thrive. The role is primarily remote, offering flexibility in your work setup, with requirements to travel into the office as needed, without a specified number of days for in-person attendance.

This position requires up to 50% travel within the region, ensuring you can build and maintain relationships with key customers and provide essential support in complex evaluations and demanding environments. Your travel will be integral to fulfilling the requirements of the role and strengthening partnerships across the territory.

 

Your Role

  • Lead and manage the Commercial Pre-Sales team, providing coaching and mentorship to Systems Engineers.
  • Support field SE team by participating in complex evaluations, troubleshooting, and customer engagements.
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard new Systems Engineers and managers within the territory.
  • Build and maintain robust relationships with key customers and channel partners, ensuring ongoing collaboration.
  • Act as a float Systems Engineer, filling in for team members as needed to ensure seamless operations.
  • Serve as the escalation point for pre-sales and post-sales technical issues, ensuring timely resolutions.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, 2x2 meetings, and quarterly check-ins with direct reports and sales counterparts for performance management.
  • Achieve first-year objectives by exceeding sales performance goals through effective team leadership and customer engagement.

 

What You Will Bring

  • 10+ years of experience as a Senior/Pre-Sales Systems Engineer.
  • 3-5+ years of management experience.
  • Deep knowledge of virtualization and storage markets with strong design capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Strong leadership qualities with a ‘whatever it takes’ attitude.
  • Ability to mentor, train, and manage Systems Engineers effectively.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% within the region.

 

Work Arrangement

Remote: This position is primarily remote. There is no specific in-office requirement, however, there may be circumstances where you may be required to come into a local office for a specific purpose, and/or to travel to other locations based on business needs.

 

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 283,200 and USD $ 424,800 per year.

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
