About the role

With >1 million individual adults contributing to NEDA (of which >234,000 are WA residents), its successful curation into the NHDH will result in a world-leading health resource that will be shared with locally based and national researchers seeking to generate new insights into the burden and clinical management of heart disease in WA and Australia-wide.

To successfully deliver this new resource (NEDA’s successful integration into the NHDH) and then generate a series of ‘proof-of-concept’ analyses derived from its expanded health linkages, the NEDA team are seeking to appoint an early career, Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to provide advanced statistical support.

  • To conduct big data linkage research as a member of the UNDA-based NEDA team and contributing to the production of late-breaking science reports, seminar papers and publications derived from the newly expanded NEDA v3.0 cohort. Specific outputs will include National and global burden of disease reports, health economic analyses, systematic reviews, new thresholds of prognostic risk based on cardiac structure/function
  • Statistically focused supervision of internal and externally based members of the NEDA team.
  • Contribute to the preparation of an updated Statistical Analysis Plan and Data Management operational procedures for NEDA v3.0.
  • Contribute to the preparation of NEDA-based research application to the NHMRC and MRFF.
  • Co-supervision of higher degree candidates and clinical researchers focused on heart health.
  • Statistical support to other heart disease-focussed research projects.
  • Occasional contributions in the teaching program within the field of Statistics.
  • Attendance at NEDA meetings and those of the Institute of Health Research.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of advanced statistical techniques suited to each research problem and design.
  • High-level proficiency in operating advanced statistical programs (e.g. SAS and R).
