About the role

Reporting to the National Head of Assessment, and liaising with Domain Chairs, and Discipline Leads you will develop assessments to measure student learning, provide both students and staff with insight into student progress across the four years of the MD program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a database of exam questions so that they align with curriculum and course learning outcomes; periodically benchmarking assessment tools and items and supporting exam review for accreditation requirements.
  • Oversight of OSCE development and software management.
  • Management of assessment software including Turnitin, Cadmus, Examsoft, and supportive software including Qualtrics and Microsoft Office.
  • Data analysis of written exams and OSCE.
  • Development of assessment learning and teaching resources for staff.
  • Assist the National Head of Assessment with the preparation of materials for Board of Examination.

Qualifications, skills & experience

Lecturer Level B

You will be expected to contribute to the teaching effort of the institution and to maintain and develop scholarly and professional activities relevant to the discipline. You will prepare and deliver substantial components of courses, ensure teaching is informed by scholarship and research, and contribute to the development of engaging curricula. You will also provide academic counselling and mentoring to students, undertake course coordination and resource management, and offer leadership within the teaching team. Academics at this level also engage in collaborative projects, raise the profile of the discipline within the University and community, demonstrate commitment to ongoing improvement in teaching practice, and contribute to the scholarship of teaching and learning or professional practice.

  • Completion of a PhD, in a relevant field, or relevant postgraduate qualifications in a specialist area of medical practice with a fellowship.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, coordinate and evaluate assessment frameworks and resources, in line with current pedagogical theories.
  • Demonstrated ability to construct and provide meaningful feedback for students at risk of academic failure that fosters independent learning.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel to clean and analyse data and produce reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, coordinate and evaluate assessment frameworks and resources, in line with current pedagogical theories.
  • Demonstrated ability to construct and provide meaningful feedback for students at risk of academic failure that fosters independent learning.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel to clean and analyse data and produce reports.

Senior Lecturer Level C

You are expected to make significant contributions to the teaching effort of a department, school, faculty or other organisational unit or an interdisciplinary area. You will also play a major role in scholarship, research and/or professional activities. You will normally have advanced qualifications and/or recognised significant experience in the relevant discipline area. A position at this level will normally require a doctoral qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing. In determining experience relative to qualifications, regard will be had to teaching experience, experience in research, experience outside tertiary education, creative achievement, professional contributions and/or technical achievement.
