Student Success is a national office that directly supports student achievement, retention and progression through Learning Support, Career Development and Scholarships. This position sits within the Student Engagement and Success portfolio as part of Student Success, alongside Student Life and Student Wellbeing.

About the role

The Peer Learning Lead sits within the Pro Vice Chancellor, Student Experience portfolio which includes Student Success, Indigenous Education, Chaplaincy, Libraries, Student Life and Wellbeing. Student Success is a national office that directly supports student achievement through Learning Support, Career Development and Scholarships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the Peer Learning Program, including Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS), across Fremantle, Sydney, and Broome campuses, as well as online, ensuring alignment with peer learning pedagogy and program objectives.
  • Provide strategic leadership in the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of national peer learning initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate program performance, producing reports on student engagement, academic outcomes, and retention to inform strategic decisions.
  • Manage and support a national team of Peer Learning Facilitators, ensuring consistent recruitment, training, and performance.
  • Collaborate with key university stakeholders to align peer learning initiatives with other student support services.
  • Manage program budgets and oversee operational delivery to ensure effective and sustainable program outcomes.
  • Promote and expand the program through marketing initiatives, partnerships, and participation in national peer learning networks.

Qualifications, skills & experience

  • A relevant postgraduate qualification with professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience.
  • Strong project management and operational coordination skills, including the ability to analyse problems, develop solutions, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated teaching and learning experience in a tertiary environment, with knowledge of peer learning pedagogy, student transition, and retention, including familiarity with programs such as Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS).
  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills, with experience guiding and supporting teams of peer learning facilitators or similar roles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports, proposals, and policy documents.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage competing demands, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong digital literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, with the ability to quickly learn new systems and build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
