About the office/school

The Mission of the School of Medicine, Sydney is to develop and train excellent, caring and ethical doctors.

The Doctor of Medicine (MD) is a 4-year graduate-entry program which combines Basic and Clinical Sciences (BCS), Communication and Clinical Skills, Population and Public Health, and Personal and Professional Development. For the Foundation Years (Years 1 and 2), the teaching of Basic and Clinical Sciences curriculum is delivered principally through lectures, practical sessions, pre-recorded teaching resources and Problem Based Learning tutorials.
 
About the role

The School seeks expressions of interest from experienced Laboratory Demonstrators/ Tutors, into our MD program on the Darlinghurst and Broadway Campus in Sydney. We are looking for sessional academic staff members with subject matter expertise in one or more of the following areas:

         Anatomy

         Histology

         Physiology

         Microbiology

         Biochemistry

         Haematology

         Immunology  

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct laboratories/tutorials to the standard of the Program
  • Consultation with students in relation to activities, practicals, weekly topics and upcoming assessments.
  • Assisting with assessment administration, such as marking, entering results and providing feedback to students as required.
  • Attend meetings as required by the Head of the Basic & Clinical Sciences Domain.  

Qualifications, skills & experience

  • Masters or a fellowship of the College or with equivalent professional experience. A minimum of an undergraduate qualification.
  • Knowledge and understanding of current scholarship and/or professional practice in the relevant discipline
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to deliver quality learning and teaching practices in multiple modes
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to foster high levels of collegiality and ability to empathise with students.
