Fleet Accounting Manager

As the Fleet Accounting Manager, you work closely with operations and Fleet Accounting team to ensure that costs are being reported correctly, weekly & monthly financial preparation and reporting including budgeting, to assist and direct the development of internal control procedures, standards, and compliance as it pertains to the Sarbanes Oxley Act and to insure adherence to generally accepted accounting principles. The Fleet Accounting Department is responsible for the accounting procedures for 33 Truck Shops company wide. 
 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
 
  • Preparing or directing preparation of reports summarizing Fleet Accounting activity vehicle expenses and variances.
  • Assisting with the development of internal control procedures, standards and compliance.
  • Ensuring proper segregation of duties exists and company assets are safeguarded.
  • Managing Accounting functions to ensure cross-training and adequate coverage across all functions and appropriate staff development.
  • Reconciling appropriate balance sheet accounts as assigned.
  • Managing and controlling payroll functions.
  • Responsible for weekly and monthly journal and accrual entry.
  • Assisting in the month end close procedures
  • Ability and willingness to travel when needed; this role does require some travel
 
What You’ll Need 
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; minimum of 18 credit hours in accounting preferred
  • Experience: 4–7 years of combined operational accounting experience
  • Skills:
    • Knowledge of SAP or comparable ERP systems
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office applications
    • Ability to prepare financial statements, reports, and analyses
    • Understanding of payroll, general ledger, accounts payable, and cost accounting
    • Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles and practices
    • Familiarity with fiscal recordkeeping laws and regulations
    • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
    • Strong leadership, team development, and supervisory skills
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
