Description
Electrical Maintenance Technician – Value Added / Case Ready
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical systems on meat processing and packaging equipment
- Support and maintain equipment such as Multivac packaging machines, conveyors, band saws, slicers, skinners and vacuum systems
- Diagnose and correct electrical issues quickly to minimize production downtime on value-added operations
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on motors, VFDs, PLCs, sensors, control panels, and automated production lines
- Install, test, and calibrate electrical components and instrumentation in a washdown, food-grade environment
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic diagrams, and OEM manuals (Multivac, band saws, slicers, skinners, packaging systems, etc.)
- Work closely with production and sanitation teams to ensure equipment reliability and food safety compliance
- Ensure all work meets USDA, OSHA, and JBS safety standards, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate recurring equipment issues to leadership
Requirements:
- Strong troubleshooting experience with industrial electrical systems (480V, 3-phase power, PLCs, VFDs, HMI systems)
- Working knowledge of food processing and packaging equipment (Multivac, Band saws, slicers, packaging, etc.)
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems in a cold/wet environment
- Experience with sanitary design equipment and washdown procedures
- Proficiency with electrical testing tools (multimeter, megger, amp clamp, etc.)
- Must be able to work weekends, overtime, and emergency call-ins as production demands require
- Ability to follow strict safety, food safety, and quality standards
Experience:
- Minimum of 2–3 years of electrical maintenance experience in a meat processing or food manufacturing facility
- Experience working with automated packaging equipment and production lines strongly preferred
- Technical certification, trade school, or journeyman electrical experience is a plus
