SUMMARY

Edge Autonomy, a leading Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) / Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) aerospace manufacturing company, is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Production Technical Writer to join our team. As a Production Technical Writer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and comprehensive documentation of our manufacturing processes, assembly procedures, and quality standards. Your expertise in technical writing, strong attention to detail, and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams will be essential in supporting efficient and high-quality production operations.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties.  

  • Create and maintain accurate and user-friendly documentation, including work instructions, manufacturing procedures, assembly guides, and quality control documents.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), engineers, and production team members to gather information and understand the manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Translate complex technical information into clear and concise instructions, ensuring that documentation is easily understandable by production operators.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality management system (QMS) guidelines in all documentation.
  • Review existing documentation and update as needed to reflect process changes, engineering revisions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow established document control processes to maintain version control, track changes, and ensure document accuracy and integrity.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, such as engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, and product management, to gather information and validate document content.
  • Collaborate with the training department to develop training materials based on the documentation, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
  • Participate in production meetings and design reviews to stay informed of upcoming changes, new product introductions, and process improvements.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews of the documentation to identify areas for improvement, clarity, and standardization.
  • Incorporate feedback from production operators, quality inspectors, and other stakeholders to continuously improve the usability and effectiveness of the documentation.
  • Ensure that all documentation adheres to company branding guidelines and follows established templates and styles.
  • Stay updated on the latest industry standards, best practices, and trends in technical writing and manufacturing documentation.
  • Adhere to project timelines and deliver documentation within the defined deadlines.
  • Assist in the implementation of content management systems or tools to enhance the organization and accessibility of documentation.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The following are a non-exhaustive list of qualifications for the position:

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant experience in technical writing may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Proven experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in an aerospace or manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to organize and structure information logically.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, assembly procedures, and quality control practices.
  • Proficiency in using documentation tools and software, such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and content management systems.
  • Knowledge of technical writing standards, such as Simplified Technical English (STE) or other industry-specific documentation standards.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and collaborating with subject matter experts.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS) and documentation control processes.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing requirements and priorities. Preferred
  • Familiarity with Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) / Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and related technologies is desirable but not required.
  • Familiarity with graphics tools, such as Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop, is a plus.
