RedWire Defense Tech is seeking an experienced Aerodynamics & Flight Dynamics Engineer to support the design, development, and testing of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). This role plays a key part in aircraft design, performance analysis, aerodynamic modeling, and flight physics, working closely with GNC, mechanical, and flight-testing teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Play a key role in new airframe development and validation activities
Own and continuously improve aircraft performance models (corrections, updates, and enhancements)
Analyze and calculate aircraft performance parameters, including climb rate, endurance, ceiling, bank angles, stall speed, etc.
Define and calculate aerodynamic loads for aircraft and components
Develop, maintain, and update internal aircraft specification documents
Perform CFD analysis of the full aircraft and individual components
Collaborate with flight testing, mechanical and GNC teams on testing, data analysis, and performance validation
Support troubleshooting and resolution of aerodynamic and flight performance issues
Perform other aerodynamics- and flight-physics-related tasks as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering (or equivalent experience)
Preferred experience in aerospace, defense, or UAS industries
Strong expertise in aerodynamics and flight dynamics
Hands-on experience with CFD tools and analysis methods
Solid understanding of aircraft performance and flight physics
Experience supporting flight test activities is a plus
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills
Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
Good spoken and written English skills.
