The Senior Safety Trainer is responsible for facilitating technical training courses of the EPA, DHS and other Federal, state and local agencies..

Courses may include: hazardous materials mission specific competencies; personnel protection equipment; technical and mass decontamination; air monitoring and sampling; victim rescue and recovery; evidence preservation and sampling; illicit labs incident response; hazardous materials technician level training, and oil spill response. Trainings may occur on weekends.   Assist in management and development of disaster management programs, response operations, and exercises.  This will include developing, managing, and supporting discussion based and operation based training exercises.  Exercise scenarios may include environmental, natural, and man-made disasters; water security events; or similar scenarios.  Exercises will be developed and implemented in accordance with Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program (HSEEP) requirements.

The employee is expected to travel on a part-time basis to client sites and/or project locations within the geographical area of EPA/FEMA Region 3 (Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia) as part of their essential duties.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, plus minimum 6 to 8 years related experience.
  • Experience in hazardous operations.
  • Basic 40 Hour Training.
  • 30 HR OSHA outreach training.
  • Certified in Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and BBP.
