The Environmental Monitor/Construction Inspector is responsible for the day-to-day observation of the project site with respect to minimization of environmental impact, compliance with the provisions specified by the Certificate, applicable sections of the Public Service Law, traffic safety measures, the EM&CP, and adherence to the health and safety plan(s). And will communicate the environmental protection criteria of the Certificate and the EM&CP to Contractor personnel and will be on site throughout the entirety of construction to provide guidance and interpretation related to those criteria.    
    
Location: Remote - West Nyack, NY    
    
Expected Outcomes:    
  • Work closely with construction teams to ensure that all work is carried out in a manner that minimizes environmental impact and complies with all relevant regulations. 
  • Monitor work conducted in the vicinity of environmentally sensitive areas where there exists the potential to encounter contaminated soils.
  • Complete environmental monitoring reports on a regular basis
  • Verify compliance with permit conditions for permits issued for the project.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly inspections and reports for submittal to the DPS.
  • Report to the Environmental Compliance Manager and will have stop-work authority.
  • Monitor compliance by analyzing applicable codes, standards, and project contract documents.
  • Ensure Compliance with environmental regulations for pipeline and other oil and gas related construction activities.  
  • Prepare written reports and maintain record of work performed. 
Requirements:    
  • BS or BA in natural sciences plus 7 years’ experience.
  • Five years of documented experience in providing environmental compliance support during construction activities.
  • Deep understanding of both environmental regulations and the specific requirements of linear electric transmission projects
  • Strong communication, verbal and written.
  • Field work capability

  • Well-read in most sciences plus all environmental areas
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out independent original scientific work. 
  • Deep knowledge of environmental law and EPA regulations preferred.

Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.   
 

Salary Range: $59,000 - $78,800 - $98,300
