Analytical Services Program Laboratory Support

Description

We are looking for a candidate that meets the following criteria:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related science field from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Two or more years relevant laboratory experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • General computer skills (knowledge and ability to use MS Office Software Suite as well as database applications).
  • Demonstrated experience working in an analytical laboratory supporting chemical and radiological analyses.
  • HAZWOPER 40-hour training and current 8-hour refresher training.
  • Support sampling, hazard identification and quantification, and waste characterization.

 

It is also desirable, but not mandatory, that the candidate meets the following qualifications:

 

  • Ten or more years relevant experience.
  • Experience at a DOE facility.
  • Experience with Canberra instrumentation.

 

Typical tasks conducted by the candidate will include:

 

  • Sample login, preparation, and analysis of samples for radioactive constituents.
  • Ensuring that the sample analysis request form is properly maintained and documented.
  • Modify, and write analytical procedures and analytical method development as required.
  • Perform radiological field measurements.
  • Perform calibration and quality controls checks associated with all laboratory equipment.
  • Maintaining sampling and laboratory procedures, supplies, inventory, infrastructure, and work spaces.
  • Support Work Planning and Controls and the ASP quality program.

 

Criteria that will be used on the quarterly evaluation for this position:

 

  • Error Rate on Validated Reports.
  • Meeting customer required schedules for sample processing and field measurements.
  • Documentation completeness and accuracy.
  • Reviewing and writing procedures meeting appropriate deadlines and requirements.
  • Performing work safely and in compliance with the ASP Work Planning and Controls processes.
