Controls Engineering Summer Intern - 2026

Judd Wire Inc., a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is looking for a resourceful, self-motivated Controls Engineering Summer Intern in our Turners Falls, MA facility.  This individual will be responsible for the supporting of Judd Wire’s Controls Engineering activities in addition to providing direct support plant wide.

Hiring Range:

$20-$25 per hour (non-exempt)

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Summer Internships will run from May 6, 2026 through August 30, 2026 (depending on Intern’s school schedule). The Intern will be responsible for managing one core project while also aiding in other department project activities.

The core project will involve working with Microsoft visual studio to rework our existing plant visualization application. The existing application is in Visual Basic, but proficiency with any visual studio language would be applicable. Some familiarity with SQL database queries and manual HTML code generation is required. There will be opportunities to work with industrial computer vision and PLC controls as well.

Judd Wire possesses a strong Kaizen culture with many continual improvement projects underway, and at any time it may be expected of the intern to assist in these improvement activities, or as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Student currently enrolled in an accredited engineering College or University.
    • Junior or Senior year preferred.
  • Pursuing a bachelors degree in Electrical, Software engineering or other similar engineering discipline.
  • Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have sound time management, organization & presentation skills.
  • Must have proficiency with at least one Microsoft Visual Studio language. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) would be a plus.
  • Some graphics design aptitude would be a plus.
  • Ability to work and collaborate effectively with cross functional departments including operations, quality, and production control personnel.
  • Comfortable and willing to work in a “hands-on” manufacturing environment.

 


Judd Wire provides full-time (40 hours per week), paid, temporary summer internships. The work schedule will be Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM.
