Join Our Team  

You will be Assistant Underwriter - Casualty. You will report to the Head of Casualty in London.

The Assistant Underwriter will support the underwriting team in the Casualty market, with a focus on General Liability and Treaty business, particularly from the US. This role involves assisting in the evaluation, selection, and pricing of risks, as well as maintaining and developing broker relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Risk Assessment: Assist in the evaluation and analysis of new and renewal business, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
  • Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate underwriting documentation, including policy wordings, endorsements, and risk reports.
  • Market Research: Conduct research on market trends, industry developments, and competitor activities to support underwriting decisions.
  • Broker Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, providing excellent customer service and timely responses to inquiries.
  • Data Management: Ensure accurate data entry and management within underwriting systems, supporting the production of reports and analysis.
  • Compliance: Adhere to regulatory requirements and internal policies, ensuring all underwriting activities are conducted in a compliant manner.
  • Team Support: Provide administrative and technical support to the underwriting team, including coordinating meetings, preparing presentations, and handling correspondence.

Your skills and abilities should include:

  • Education:
  • Experience: Previous experience in an underwriting support role, preferably within the Casualty market and/or Lloyd's Market.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Team Player: Ability to work effectively within a team environment and support colleagues as needed.
