The Opportunity

In this role, you’ll refine engineering processes, lead architecture design efforts, and ensure timely, high-quality releases while providing hands-on technical leadership to a small group of engineers.
About the Team
This role will be part of the Nutanix Prism team, based in San Jose. The team is geographically distributed across San Jose and India and is focused on building an enterprise-grade API platform and delivering exceptional multi-cloud observability solutions to Nutanix's customers. You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager, who values strategic thinking, collaboration, and technical leadership. The manager encourages open communication, fostering a culture where team members feel empowered to influence decisions and contribute to the project’s success.
As part of our hybrid work setup, you will be required to work in the office three days a week, allowing for a balance between in-person collaboration and remote work flexibility to cater to individual preferences and needs.
There are no travel requirements for this position, allowing you to focus on delivering high-quality work and contributing effectively to the team's success without the added stress of frequent travel. Your Role
- Oversee and manage a medium-sized team of engineers, ensuring effective collaboration and productivity across multiple geographical locations.
- Lead technical direction for major product areas of Prism.
- Design & develop a world-class network hybrid/multi cloud product that is distributed, resilient, and highly performant at a large-scale deployment.
- Contribute to all phases of product development through conception, design, implementation, and deployment, along with performance engineering.
- Conduct regular code reviews to uphold quality standards and promote best practices within the engineering team.
- Support team members in troubleshooting technical issues and provide guidance to enhance problem-solving skills.
What You Will Bring

- Proven experience in managing engineering teams, preferably in larger organizations.
- Ability to foster collaboration within a geographically diverse team.
- Strong managerial skills with a focus on effective leadership and feedback.
- Understanding of virtualization concepts - compute/storage/network virtualization, and distributed systems.
- Knowledge of OpenAPI standards and hands-on experience working with web technologies like HTTP/HTTPS, RESTful API, JSON, Protobuf.
- Knowledge of public clouds like AWS, Azure and Google Cloud.
- Education in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering).
- Total industrial experience of 8 years and 2+ years of experience managing teams of 5 people or more.
Work Arrangement
Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. In locations where our workplace policy applies (i.e. San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, Bangalore, Pune, Hoofddorp, Belgrade, Barcelona, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo), employees are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week to foster collaboration, team alignment, and access to in-office resources. The pay range for this position at the commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $164,000 and USD $328,800 per year.
However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
