Position Title: Mid-Level Data Visualization Engineer
Location: Remote - Colombia
What you will be doing:
We are seeking a customer-facing technical professional responsible for supporting, maintaining, and enhancing business intelligence reports and dashboards for our client. This role is structured with an 80% focus on operational support (Operate) and a 20% focus on proactive development (Enhance). As the primary point of contact for business users, you will be instrumental in ensuring the stability and accuracy of the BI platform. Key responsibilities include translating complex data from Snowflake into actionable insights, performing root cause analysis for data quality incidents using advanced SQL, and managing the self-hosted SAP Business Objects server environment. You will also contribute to development efforts by building and enhancing reports in both Power BI and SAP Business Objects. Your responsibilities include:
- Serve as the first line of production support for the BI platform, responsible for triaging, investigating, and resolving incidents related to data discrepancies, report failures (Control-M), and user access issues.
- Perform root cause analysis for data quality issues by writing and executing complex SQL queries against Snowflake to validate business logic and trace data lineage.
- Manage stakeholder communications and expectations for all support tickets through ServiceNow, ensuring adherence to defined service level agreements (SLAs).
- Manage and maintain the BI server and gateway infrastructure, specifically supporting the self-hosted SAP Business Objects environment to ensure stability and performance.
- Develop new and enhance existing reports and dashboards in Power BI and SAP Business Objects, translating business requirements from Azure DevOps user stories into functional solutions.
- Actively participate in the team's agile process, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives, to collaborate on operational tasks and development efforts.
Requirements & Qualifications
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- 1-3 years of professional experience in a Business Intelligence or Data Visualization role.
- Advanced SQL skills with the ability to write complex queries and views in Snowflake for data validation and triage.
- Required proficiency in core BI tools, including Power BI and SAP Business Objects, for report development and enhancement.
- Experience in troubleshooting report job failures within scheduling tools such as Control-M.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with meticulous attention to detail for resolving production incidents.
- Excellent communication skills to explain technical data issues in terms of business impact to non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with agile processes and using Azure DevOps to manage user stories.
- Prior experience in an IT Service Management (ITSM) or production support role using ticketing systems like ServiceNow is considered a plus. Intermediate proficiency in both written and verbal English.
