Position Title: Wastewater Maintenance Lead
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:00AM-4:00PM, some weekend work required
Location: Mount Pleasant, Texas

The Wastewater Maintenance Lead is responsible for leading and performing maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance activities on wastewater treatment equipment and facility systems. This position ensures the safe and efficient operation of wastewater equipment by repairing and maintaining mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and related systems in accordance with equipment manuals, diagrams, specifications, and company standards. The Wastewater Maintenance Lead provides technical guidance to team members, supports regulatory compliance efforts, and promotes a safe working environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
- Troubleshoot and repair pumps, motors, blowers, conveyors, gearboxes, valves, mixers, screens, and other wastewater treatment equipment.
- Observe equipment operation and identify causes of malfunctions through inspection, testing, and analysis.
- Dismantle equipment to access and remove defective components using hoists, hand tools, and power tools.
- Inspect equipment parts for wear, damage, and dimensional changes using measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Adjust and align functional components and control instruments using appropriate tools and measuring devices.
- Repair or replace defective mechanical components to restore equipment performance.
- Install new or replacement mechanical and structural components as required.
- Start, test, and verify equipment performance following maintenance and repair activities.
- Perform lubrication and cleaning of equipment as part of preventive maintenance programs.
- Operate machine shop equipment such as drill presses, grinders, and other metalworking tools to fabricate or repair parts when necessary.
- Assist with electrical troubleshooting and repairs, plumbing repairs, and general facility maintenance activities.
- Initiate or assist with purchase requisitions for parts, supplies, equipment, and maintenance services.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, environmental regulations, and wastewater treatment operating procedures.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and training to maintenance team members and assist in coordinating maintenance activities.
- Respond to emergency equipment failures and support after-hours maintenance needs when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical training in industrial maintenance, mechanical maintenance, wastewater operations, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in industrial maintenance, wastewater treatment maintenance, or a related manufacturing environment preferred.
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, pumps, motors, conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and wastewater treatment equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, technical manuals, and equipment specifications.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with employees, contractors, and management.
- Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to walk and stand for the duration of the shift.
- Must have functional use of both hands and sufficient dexterity to perform maintenance tasks.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, twist, stoop, push, pull, reach, and climb as required.
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work from elevated platforms when necessary.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Environmental Conditions
- Exposure to warm, cold, wet, humid, and outdoor environmental conditions.
- Exposure to moving mechanical equipment, chemicals, wastewater treatment processes, and varying noise levels.
- May be required to work in confined spaces and around industrial equipment in accordance with safety procedures.
