Trade Logistics Specialist 

Purpose and Scope/General Summary: We are seeking a Logistics Specialist to join the Swift & Company Trade Group team. This role is responsible for coordinating domestic and international logistics activities, including collaboration with production facilities, steamship lines, customs authorities, USDA, inspection and warehouse locations, trade teams, and trucking/drayage providers. The Logistics Specialist will maintain extensive communication with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to ensure timely shipment execution and the accurate preparation of all required export and transportation documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and book Truck deliveries from multiple production plants to customer/transload locations
  • Communicate pick up/delivery times and dates with Truck carriers and Production/Transload locations. Track shipments, contact drivers and update ETA’s
  • Continuously work on improving the Product delivery process and reducing truck wait times
  • Effectively negotiate rates with different truckers for each trucking lane
  • Assist in checking payments and imputing data into SAP system for accounting
  • Generate reports related to product shipped, shipping costs, truck wait times and delivery process
  • Responsible for daily crisis-management and rescheduling shipments if needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with 0-1 years of related work experience
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems logically and effectively
  • Strong organizational skills and acute attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Intermediate to advance skills in Excel preferred
  • Ability to work independently and to know when to ask questions
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong time management skills required
  • Can perform the functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation 
  • As a salaried position with the company, you may be required to travel at some point to other facilities, to attend Company events, or as a representative of the Company in other situations. The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
  • Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
  • 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
  • Base salary of $58,000;
  • Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program; and
