Nature of Position:

The Grain Technician supports the daily operations of grain handling and storage facilities. This role is responsible for operating equipment, maintaining grain quality, and ensuring a safe and clean work environment. The Grain Technician works under the direction of the Grain Operations Manager to help achieve operational goals and deliver excellent service to producers and customers.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with the receiving, drying, storing, and shipping of grain.
  • Operate grain handling equipment such as conveyors, elevators, and dryers.
  • Perform grain sampling and testing to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Maintain accurate records of grain movement and inventory.
  • Support facility housekeeping and routine maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with the safe and efficient hauling of corn to and from grain facilities.
  • Follow all safety protocols and report any hazards or equipment issues.
  • Assist with seasonal harvest operations, including extended hours and weekend shifts.
  • Provide courteous and professional service to customers and drivers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience in agriculture or grain handling is a plus.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn equipment operation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in physically demanding environments.
  • Willingness to work extended hours during peak seasons.
  • Commitment to workplace safety.
  • CDL CLASS A PREFERRED

 

Working Conditions/Environment:

  • Exposure to varying temperatures depending on the season.
  • High noise levels during certain tasks (hearing protection provided).
  • Potential exposure to odors, dust, gases, and hazardous materials (PPE provided).
  • Muddy and difficult terrain during and after inclement weather.
