Maintenance Lead
 

JBS is seeking an hourly Maintenance Lead 1st Shift Team Member who will be responsible for directing the maintenance team members in all maintenance aspects of assigned work areas. Takes direction from Operations Maintenance Manager and supervision on scheduling, line preparation, and production execution. Direct lead for assigned employees. Leads maintenance personnel for day-to-day control of assigned department activities according to prescribed schedules priorities, production flow, and processing specifications to ensure production efficiencies are met. Evaluates assigned work performance and takes corrective action. Coaches and trains assigned personnel to work standards and ensure said standards are being followed constantly. Are expected to use tools as required to resolve issues. Responsible for enforcing company work rules and policies including the effective recommendation of the discipline for employees under the leads direction.

Position starts at $34-$40 per hour based on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Acts as a lead by training, mentoring, scheduling, and providing guidance to hourly Maintenance employees.

  • Provides leadership through effective communication and coaching.
  • Provides assistance and support as needed.
  • Ensures a positive work environment exhibiting the company’s culture of respect for all employees.
  • Motivates, corrects, and challenges personnel with a positive approach.
  • Notifies Maintenance supervisor when problems arise.
  • Maintains open dialogue with assigned team. When approached with feedback and concerns, resolve them in the most direct and positive way possible
  • Ensuring all company policies are followed.
  • Supports Maintenance Technicians in troubleshooting pneumatic, hydraulic, electric equipment PCL and Process Controls software and ensures necessary repairs are completed expeditiously. j. Provides leadership for planning and executing preventative maintenance and predictive maintenance programs. Provide leadership for Technicians who are performing these tasks.

 

2. Performs highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and other facility equipment.

  • Provides leadership for Maintenance technicians performing equipment installs, parts replacement, equipment troubleshooting, etc.
  • Leads and supports Technicians in troubleshooting pneumatic, hydraulic, electric equipment, PLC, Process Control software and ensures necessary repairs are completed expeditiously.
  • Understand the tools and equipment needed to do each job.
  • Understands and determines when and what type of maintenance is needed. Operations
  • Determines causes operating errors and process’s ability to tell when something is likely to go wrong before downtime occurs.
  • Resolves all maintenance and mechanical problems promptly with minimal disruption to production schedules. Provides leadership for planning and executing preventative and predictive maintenance programs. Provide leadership for Technicians who are performing these tasks. h. Leads equipment installations, including hooking up air, water, gas, and the alignment and leveling of equipment.
  • Resolves all maintenance and mechanical problems promptly with minimal disruption to production schedules. 3. Understand and follow the company GMP policy.

4. Understand and follow the company safety rules.

5. May be required to work long hours and weekends.

6. May assume other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent certification
  • At least 4 years of industrial maintenance experience required
  • Strong electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, industrial, PLC and HVAC experience
  • AAS degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred
  • Must be able to motivate a diverse workforce and lead by example. Must be able to coach, train, and take corrective action, including discipline, when appropriate.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office applications
  • Good math skills
  • Must be well-organized with good attention to detail
  • Display strong work ethics and positive attitude
  • Adaptable and dependable with ability to follow direction and work cooperation with others
  • Must maintain a helpful and professional attitude and appearance Work Environment

 

ACTIVITIES: Very active position, requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day

HEARING: Must be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

REPETITIVE MOTION: Must be able to frequently and regularly use wrists, hands, and or fingers.

VISUAL ABILITIES: Acute close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds throughout the day.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to work for long hours in a no-kill food processing environment, where it is wet, damp, and cold.  Employees are expected to remain in these conditions for most of their workdays.
