We’re seeking an experienced IT Systems Administrator responsible for the day-to-day management, maintenance, and security of Ookla’s IT systems, servers, and network infrastructure. In this role, you will oversee the maintenance and monitoring of our systems, with a particular focus on the Helsinki office. Your duties will include ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of IT systems, designing and implementing network security measures, managing Active Directory and Entra ID, administering Mac and Windows laptops through MDM, and planning and executing server migrations to AWS. You will also document current systems to assist our growing team and provide Tier 2 support to our users, participating in end-user support as needed. Additionally, you’ll manage our software and hardware assets and work with the Ookla IT team to ensure the smooth operation of internal services for Ookla teams globally while implementing best practices for security and data protection.

Expectations for Success
- System maintenance and troubleshooting
- Server and network management
- Configuring and maintaining network switches, routers, firewalls, and VPN connections.
- Planning and migrating on-premises VMs to AWS
- Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems and data.
- Backup and recovery
- Tier 2 end-user support
- Software and license management
Requirements

- 4+ years in systems administration.
- Advanced Mac OS X System Administration experience in a corporate environment.
- Prior experience with Windows in an Active Directory and/or Entra ID environment.
- Networking experience: Wi-Fi, Firewalls, Switching/Routing, VLAN, DHCP, DNS, VPN.
- Linux server and laptop admin experience
- English proficiency
- Reliable, organized, friendly, team player
- Eager to learn and grow within the role
- Background check required
- You should be located in the Helsinki metropolitan area to work primarily from the office
Nice to Have
- Relevant university degree
- Experience in IaaC and system automation
